Who plays the registrar in Emmerdale?

45-year-old Janine Mellor plays the registrar for John and Aaron’s wedding. Janine is originally from huddersfield and got her BA in Acting from Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University College.

When she was younger, Janine attended Lepton County Primary School, King James’s School at Almondbury and Greenhead College.

But away from education, Janine loved to dance. She went to the Kirkheaton-based Clare Doosey School of Dance.

What has Janine Mellor acted in?

Janine has accumulated quite a lot of TV credits over the years, starting 20 years ago in 2005.

Her first on-screen appearance was in the TV show Fat Friends, which she appeared in a total of five episodes.

But it wasn’t long before Janine got her most popular role. She played nurse Kelsey Phillips in the TV show Casualty from 2005 until 2009.

Her character, Kelsey, left the show in season 23, as she decides to leave her job and start a new life.

Following her departure from Casualty, Janine also made a brief one-episode appearance in Emmerdale’s rival ITV soap, Coronation Street, in 2011. And in 2018, she also appeared in an episode of Doctor Who.

In 2013, Janine decided to try her hand at theatre, which proved to be a hit. She played the main role in the play Marriage. The show took place at Belgrade Theatre where she worked alongside Mark Fleischmann.

But in 2019, Janine decided to get back into TV properly. And it seems another medical style show was for her. She played Beth Taylor-Wood in eight episodes of the TV series Doctors, before returning for one episode last year.

Janine Mellor in Emmerdale

This week marked Janine’s appearance in Emmerdale. And while it may not be a long-term role, it was definitely part of an exciting storyline.

The registrar first appeared hoping to have a chat with John or Aaron before the wedding. But little does she know both grooms are currently nowhere to be found.

In reality, Aaron has just called off the wedding, as he believed John still had feelings for Aidan – who just ended up back in a coma.

So, will the grooms sort everything out and the wedding will go smoothly? Or does the registrar have a hard ceremony ahead?
