This week’s Emmerdale confirmed what many had already suspected – that it was John Sugden who was Nate’s killer, dumping his body in the lake. It had been an accident – White Knight John had been trying to help with his dodgy injection – but that doesn’t make Nate any less dead nor John any less to blame.

These developments have left viewers wondering when John’s secret will come out, and who will be the one to expose his true nature. Who’s going to uncover John’s secret?

Is Cain onto killer John on Emmerdale?

Hailing John a hero after ‘saving’ Jacob, his friends and family threw an impromptu celebration in The Woolpack. Cain marked his appreciation with a handshake.

However, some felt they detected something else lurking behind Cain’s demeanor. Might he have his suspicions of John?

“I get the feeling Cain might have suspicions how John is always there, which makes me wonder…..” wrote one fan on Reddit.

Will Liam uncover killer John’s secret on Emmerdale?

As the week began, John was in Liam’s bad books after failing to diagnose a seriously ill Kerry. John managed to win him over by ‘saving’ Jacob as he went into anaphylactic shock, but has he only drawn more attention to himself?

“Is Liam beginning to suss him? Saving too people from near death incidents?” asked one fan.

“Liam knows… he’s just waiting,” said another.

“I think Liam’s clicked,” a third commented.

If anyone was going to clock onto John, it should be murder mystery fan Liam. Who knows, he might even be able to use it in one of his stories… if he survives, that is.

Will Belle recognise the signs?

Having recently survived an abusive relationship, things have been quiet for Belle recently. But with Aaron now engaged to John – who, as some have pointed out, has a few ‘control’ issues of his own – might she recognise some of the red flags he’s been raising?

“We are going to see something similar to Belle, and she raises concerns about that,” predicted one fan.

“It would be a good way to bring back Belle to the front of the show as well since she hasn’t had much after her abuse storyline. Hopefully nothing like that happens to Aaron though as he’s already been through a lot recently but it would be a really interesting turn in the story,” another agreed.

Mack the subject of dark Emmerdale flash-forward – is John responsible?

With a flashback still to play out – depicting Mack on the run from a mystery figure in the woods – many have wondered whether he might be John’s next victim.

“I think it’s Mack that catches him out. That must be the reason why his running through the woods. I guess I was half wrong about John with my theory. I was leaning towards the serial killer route , but looks like it’s a hero complex story line,” wrote one fan.
