As Ruby revealed that she’d been raped by father Anthony, she and Manpreet set aside their rivalry, and dug into the past. Admitting that she’d sought therapy after everything which happened with sister Meena, Manpreet advised Ruby to do the same. But what happened with Manpreet and Emmerdale’s most iconic villain? Here are seven of the worst things Meena did to poor Manpreet. Meena first arrived in the village in 2020 (Credit: Shuttertstock/ITV) 1. Killed their father Meena’s evil began before she had even arrived in the village, when she murdered her father. Bitter at dad Jasper looking on Manpreet as his favourite child, Meena took revenge when he fell ill, injecting morphine into his drop as he lay dying in hospital. As a result of his premature death, Manpreet was never able to say a proper goodbye to her father – a fact Meena relished in sharing before being sentenced to 75 years in prison for her various crimes. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers Manpreet wasn’t happy to see Meena when she first arrived (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock) 2. Slept with her ex-husband When she first appeared in the village, mild-mannered Meena appeared to be all sweetness and light. However, Manpreet didn’t buy into her sister’s act at first, and held a grudge against her for once sleeping with her ex-husband, while they were still together. As a result, Manpreet’s marriage fell apart, and she grew estranged from her sister. Meena targeted Rishi (Credit: ITV) 3. Manipulated Rishi to win over Manpreet In order to win Manpreet around, Meena knew that she would have to manipulate the situation. This she did by hiding Rishi’s epilepsy medication before he set out on a drive. Hiding Manpreet’s phone, she also altered his SatNav so he set out in entirely the wrong direction. Confused Rishi crashed into a ditch, where he was ‘rescued’ by Meena. This had the desired effect of softening Manpreet toward Meena. Tried to kill her… twice After killing Leanna Cavanagh, Andrea Tate and Ben Tucker, Meena was starting to get clumsy. Growing suspicious, Manpreet sought out Carol Butler, a face from Meena’s past – and sister of murder victim Nadine Butler. Learning of Meena’s shady past, Manpreet confronted her sister, demanding proof that she really was pregnant, as she claimed. In response, Meena smashed a glass bottle and attempted to stab her. Manpreet was saved from this particular attempt at murder when The Woolpack suddenly exploded. At the hospital, Meena made a second attempt at killing Manpreet, this time with poison. However, Manpreet woke up before she could go through with the act. Admitting that she couldn’t kill her sister, Meena was forced to come up with an alternative plan… Meena held Manpreet hostage for weeks (Credit: ITV) 5. Held her hostage Smuggling Manpreet back to the village, she tied her sister to a bed and began drugging her with Diazepam. During this time, she told her fellow villagers that Manpreet had fled to Ibiza in order to recover from the trauma of the explosion. Manpreet was found after weeks of bondage when Meena also kidnapped Vinny as her next murder target. They were rescued when Doctor Liam stumbled across the scene, forcing her to go on the run. Meena stood trial for her crimes (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock) 6. Courtroom showdown After finally being apprehended during her final rampage, Meena stood trial. Following the guilty verdict, she grabbed a shard of broken glass which she used to take Manpreet hostage (again), holding her and the courtroom and knifepoint.
