Cain pledges his support to his granddaughter and suggests Sarah try surrogacy in order to fulfil her greatest wish. But will Charity be on board with the idea? Charity supports Sarah as she returns to the village after her hysterectomy (Credit: ITV) Heartbroken Sarah struggles in Emmerdale spoilers All Sarah wanted was a baby of her own, and that dream has been cruelly snatched from her. Cain and Charity’s granddaughter was about to embark on IVF treatment when she discovered she had cervical cancer. Although the disease had been caught early, Sarah still had to undergo surgery before she could get pregnant. The plan was to have the operation, then proceed with IVF, using Jacob as her sperm donor. But then everything went wrong. Doctors discovered Sarah’s blood vessels around her uterus were damaged. After suffering a massive hemorrhage in surgery, Sarah had to undergo a full hysterectomy. This week, a fragile Sarah is discharged from hospital. But as she arrives back in the village it suddenly hits her at what she’s lost. Sarah tries to keep busy by offering to help Cain with a poster for Nate’s memorial. She’s desperate to get back to normality and heads over to the garage. Kammy is there trying to mend Gabby’s car, and Sarah offers her help. Cain is not impressed when he finds Sarah at work, but he’s also looking for ways to take his mind off Nate. Later, disaster strikes when Sarah takes Gabby out driving and her friends faints behind the wheel. Both girls are injured in the incident, and as Sarah arrives at hospital she’s overcome with pain. Jacob rushes to her aid, and she collapses into him. Cain dashes to the hospital to be by Sarah’s side. Alone in her hospital room, Sarah breaks down and tells Cain the accident has made her realise how desperately she still wants a baby.
