Accusations began to fly as the police revealed that Nate’s the mystery body in Emmerdale tonight (Thursday, June 5) – leaving Cain Dingle and Tracy Robinson with some tough questions to answer.

And, as the news of Nate’s death began to spread, his friends and family desperately scrabbled for answers.

This spelled even worse news for Cain, who became prime suspect after Tracy began to question his motives and behaviour. And that parting punch he dealt his son isn’t doing him any favours…

Cain came under fire in Emmerdale tonight

Can was in an uncharacteristically good mood after Ruby managed to escape the consequences of her attempted accusation yesterday.

However, this wasn’t to last – a knock on the door heralded the arrival of a police officer, who informed him that the body in the lake belonged to Nate.

Back in the village, Tracy was getting the same devastating news. As DS Walsh (recognise her?) revealed that Nate was dead, Tracy filled the police in on his last movements.

This included the information that Cain had beaten him up shortly before Nate’s disappearance, and that John was the last person to see him alive.

At the station, Cain was forced to answer a series of difficult questions about his final interaction with Nate. He was released following his interview, but his strangely apologetic behaviour soon had Tracy wondering whether he might have killed Nate after all.

But, as Emmerdale spoilers next week reveal, Tracy should be more worried for herself…

John sets Tracy up to protect Cain in Emmerdale spoilers

The investigation into Nate’s death continues in Emmerdale next week, as the police begin questioning Nate’s friends and family. As the last person to see him alive, John is questioned over Nate’s disappearance. During the interview, he tries his best to protect Cain.

Meanwhile, when Tracy walks by, Sam lashes out at her for pointing the finger at Cain. Unsettled by Tracy’s accusations, Cain wonders whether she might be responsible for Nate’s death.

As John reassures Cain that the police will find another avenue for investigation soon, John sets a plan into motion. The next day, the police arrive at Tug Gyll with a search warrant.

Tracy assures them that they’ll find nothing, but is shocked when the police find Nate’s phone in Frankie’s playhouse. The police take her down the station, where they reveal that there’s no record of the removal man who supposedly took Nate’s things to Shetland.

Struggling for answers, she tells the police that she was with Vanessa when Nate disappeared. Later, in the cafe, she asks Vanessa to corroborate her false alibi.

Later, when DS Walsh visits the Vet’s surgery, she asks Vanessa to bake up Tracy’s alibi with an official statement. What will Tracy do?

What else happened on Emmerdale tonight (Thursday, June 5)

As news of Nate’s death dominated the episode, those affected reacted with shock and confusion as the news spread. And it wasn’t long before fingers started pointing among those who knew and loved him.

Elsewhere, April lashed out at an unpleasant reminder of her time on the streets of Leeds. And, as Pollard finally accepted (home) help, his behaviour continued to drive those around him away.

And, as Sarah enlisted Kammy’s help in making a quick buck, Charity confronted her over the IVF plans.

April lashed out at her past

At The Woolpack, April got to work on her first shift with Take A Vow, filming a Christening.

Mary and Marlon were hopeful that this heralded the return of the ‘old’ April, but she was busy brooding over the identity of the Christening baby’s father.

She listened in as his friends and family described him as a ‘new’ man, but she harboured memories of their encounter on the streets of Leeds. As she watched Alex give his speech, April continued to simmer with anger.

Snapping, she revealed the story of how he’d ‘unbuttoned his jeans’ and exposed himself in front of her. As his family and friends cleared off, April explained the full story to Alex and his horrified partner.

Once she’d stormed off, April filled in Mary and her dad on what Alex had done. Marlon was ready to take him outside for a sound beating, but Mary got there first – slapping Alex around the face, just as Belle arrived to find the Christening in ruins.

No remorse, he threatened to press charges if April didn’t recount her tale. Thankfully, former journalist Mary managed to defuse the situation, while Belle promised that a refund would be issued… well, to Alex’s wife.

Belle was proud of April for taking the power back from Alex, but her good mood was short lived. Answering a call from Vanessa, she became the latest to learn of Nate’s death…

Later, Marlon caught up with April to ask her whether she’d ever been ‘violated’ by other men. She told him that she hadn’t – not physically, at least – but explained how Dylan had sold his body for money.

Devastated by everything his daughter had been through, Marlon pulled her in for a hug, reassuring her that he’d be there for her, come what may.

Pollard drove helping hands away

Recovering in the aftermath of his tumble, Pollard met a candidate for his new home help. Enter Sophie, who wasted little time in offering to help him with a bath.

Following his bath, a humiliated Pollard began weeping as Sophie helped him get dressed and offered to take him to the toilet.

Upbeat Sophie’s mothering and mithering continued to irritate. Boiling over, he packed her on her way, to Kerry’s horror.

As Kerry tried to make him see sense, he lashed out at her too, sending her on her way with a flea in her ear. All alone as she stormed off, a humiliated and scared Pollard began to break down in tears – with only pictures of his exes (one dead, one on a cruise) for company.

Returning downstairs, he found Kerry waiting with dinner. He exploded again, this time at her choice of sandwich filling. Can Pollard come to terms with his declining health before he drives everyone away?

Charity confronted scheming Sarah

Sarah joined Kammy as they scoped out their big heist – stealing deliveries from a local postal service. Jacob and Charity watched from afar.

As she suggested he might be feeling jealous about her and Kammy growing close again, he sniped back – telling her she needed to pay more attention to her granddaughter. Charity headed over to have a word, only for them to drive off.

Heist complete, the pair dug threw their ill-gotten gains. Charity found them digging through a selection of horse masks and bric-a-brac, and dropped the bombshell that Sarah was trying for a baby.

Revealing she’d found the IVF brochure in her room, she and Sarah bickered over the reality of having a baby as someone with a serious illness. As they argued, her phone began to ring – Vanessa, with the news of Nate’s death.

News of Nate’s death spread

One by one, Vanessa began to share the news of Nate’s death. As his friends and family gathered in the Woolpack, the shell-shocked survivors attempted to come to terms with the news.

It wasn’t long before Ruby began to share her suspicions, wondering aloud whether Caleb might have attacked his nephew. He rejected the assertion, subtly pointing the finger at Tracy, to Chas’s horror.
