We have bad news about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 5 after that huge cliffhanger

Episode 4 was incredible... but don't expect to get episode 5 sooner than usual

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms just left its viewers on a spine-tingling cliffhanger, but if you’re desperate to see episode 5, there’s something you should know.

Just like its Westerosi predecessors, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been airing weekly on Sky (and HBO across the pond).

That, in itself, isn’t a problem. However, even its biggest fans have taken issue with the half-hour length of each episode; just when it’s getting really exciting, it cuts to the credits!

Episode 4 may be the best (and worst) example yet, ending on a goosebump-flooding shot of Ser Duncan the Tall in the trial of seven. You’re probably dying to watch episode 5, but you’ll need to wait a little longer.

When is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 5 out?

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 5 won’t be released until Monday, February 15.

That’s right: if you’ve already watched episode 4, you’ll need to wait nine whole days to find out what happens next. Neither a failing star nor the will of the Seven could change that.

Usually, you’d only need to wait for a week (and that’s as painful as a clout in the ear). This time, your longing has been extended – and the Super Bowl is to blame.

The fourth episode was brought forward to avoid a clash with the game; why compete for ratings (and lose)? It will still air at its scheduled time on Sky. However, viewers have the option to watch it early if they plan to tune in for the Super Bowl instead. (Admittedly, this is more to appease its US viewership.)

Unfortunately, people may now have the expectation of a pre-terrestrial release for the rest of the series. Let us be clear: episodes 5 and 6 will be released on Mondays, as normal.

How did A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 4 end?

The fourth episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms saw Dunk desperately rally together a group of knights willing to fight by his side in a “trial of seven”.

A bit like Maekar, you may be asking, “what the [bleep] is that?”

Dunk was entitled to demand a trial by combat following Aerion’s charge against him. The Targaryen prince invoked an ancient loophole, allowing him to accept on the condition that they each find six knights and they all fight.

Ser Lyonel Baratheon, the Fossoway brothers, Ser Robyn Rhysling, Ser Humfrey Hardyng, and Ser Humfrey Beesbury all step up.

However, on the day of the trial, Steffon betrayed Dunk, joining Aerion’s side on the promise of a lordship.

That leaves two slots to fill – and fill they must, lest Dunk be executed for not fulfilling the conditions of the trial.

Raymun volunteers, so Lyonel makes him a knight (Daniel Ings’ delivery of the oath is sensational).

Dunk then appeals to the crowd, howling, “Has courage deserted the noble houses of Westeros… are there no true knights among you?”

There’s one, and nobody sees it coming: Baelor!

“I will take Ser Duncan’s side… this man protected the innocent, as every true knight must. Let the gods decide if he was right or wrong,” he says.

The trial begins… and that’s where the episode ends.
