BBC The One Show's Alex Jones emotional over Challenge Squad Lloyd's 'amazing' story
What an amazing young man!Alex Jones was visibly fighting back tears on last night’s (November 12) episode of The One Show, as the programme delivered one of its most emotional moments of the series.
With the countdown to BBC Children in Need, airing this Friday (November 14), the show has been sharing updates on its remarkable Challenge Squad. The Challenge Squad is made up of four young people whose lives have been changed by Children in Need funding, and who are now taking on huge personal challenges to help raise money for the charity.

Alex Jones gets emotional on The One Show
Yesterday’s spotlight fell on Lloyd, a 21-year-old keen sportsman who was born with Down syndrome.
He pushed himself through an extraordinary triathlon: 30 lengths of an Olympic pool, a 40km cycle – despite only learning to ride a bike two months ago – and a final 10km run to bring it home.
Alex was clearly overwhelmed by the sheer determination and heart on display, when the VT showing Lloyd’s journey aired
With tears in her eyes, she told him: “I have to say, everybody in this room, all the team here at The One Show, everybody at Children in Need, we are all so proud of you.”
She went on to announce that, to date, the Challenge Squad have raised more than £1,100,000 for charity.

The One Show viewers ‘in tears’
One person gushed on social media, following the show: “That was a special episode. Lloyd is just an impressive inspiring individual. I was in massive tears watching this. He is such an amazing young man behind the spotlight of talent.”
Another person agreed: “Wow this kid is so incredibly, inspiring, so what you need in a world of today…. He’s mum should be very proud!”
Somebody else also said on X (Twitter): “Well done Lloyd fantastic achievement.”
