Alison Hammond has long been regarded as TV gold when it comes to celebrity interviews. From the moment she burst onto screens in Big Brother, it was clear she was destined for a career in front of the camera.

Now a firm favourite on This Morning – and even tipped as a possible future Strictly host – Alison has brought her trademark warmth, humour and unpredictability to countless interviews over the years.

And, more often than not, chaos followed.

With Alison Hammond set to appear on You Bet! on December 27, we’re taking a look back at some of her most unforgettable interview moments.

Causing havoc on the This Morning weather map

One of This Morning’s most iconic segments involves the weather map, where a forecaster balanced on a floating plastic version of the UK while reporting conditions from different regions.

Back in 2018, Alison took on the challenge live from Albert Dock in Liverpool. Joined by sailors, she attempted to dash across the floating map – but accidentally knocked one of them straight into the water. Mortified, Alison rushed to apologise and gave the sailor a hug as the segment descended into mayhem.

Alison Hammond reacts to Dermot O’Leary’s vase prank

In April 2024, Alison returned to the show after a break and was immediately thrown into another chaotic moment. Dermot O’Leary introduced a segment about an Antiques Roadshow guest who had discovered a vase worth £30,000 – only to then smash it live on air.

A horrified Alison said: “I don’t even know what to say, I’m actually going to get upset,” before Dermot revealed it was all an April Fool’s prank. Thankfully, Alison saw the funny side.

A confrontation with Cliff Richard

Things became awkward during an interview with Sir Cliff Richard, when he spoke about delaying a meeting with Elvis Presley because of his weight – before Elvis later died.

A stunned Alison replied: “You should never have put it off just because they’re a little bit heavier.”

Cliff doubled down with advice about meeting your heroes regardless, prompting Alison to joke: “Is that why you don’t want me at your house?”

The moment divided viewers but many praised Alison for her quick response.

Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling

One of Alison’s most legendary interviews came with Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling while promoting Blade Runner 2049. After Alison described the film as gloomy, Harrison bluntly told her to “cheer up”, sending the interview spiralling into laughter, drinks and complete chaos.

Alison also admitted she hadn’t seen the original Blade Runner, but tried to steer things back on track – unsuccessfully. The trio dissolved into giggles throughout, and Harrison later jokingly told Alison to “grow up” in a birthday message, which fans took as a huge compliment.

Italian police vs Alison Hammond

In 2019, Alison even found herself confronted by Italian police while broadcasting live from Pisa.

Told she didn’t have a filming permit, Alison warned her co-hosts: “I’m gonna get arrested. I love you all. Laters.”

Holly Willoughby could only wish her luck with the Italian authorities.

Alison Hammond and Bradley Cooper

Another viral moment came in 2018 when Alison interviewed Bradley Cooper ahead of A Star Is Born. The interview ended with Alison singing an impromptu song to him, leaving Bradley stoney-faced before he eventually cracked a smile. Cringeworthy, but undeniably funny.

Alison Hammond and The Rock

And then there’s Alison’s ongoing will they/won’t they ‘romance’ with The Rock. During a flirty 2017 interview, Dwayne Johnson jokingly proposed to her on air. Alison quickly produced a ring, and the pair became ‘married’ on This Morning later that year.

Their mock marriage became a running joke on the show, before coming to an end when Dwayne married Lauren Hashian in real life. He’s since affectionately referred to Alison as his “ex-wife”.

From accidental injuries to mock proposals, Alison Hammond’s interviews are never dull – and that’s exactly why viewers can’t get enough of her.
