Strictly Come Dancing has been hit by blow after blow, and it seems Amber Davies was the latest star to have fallen ill.

We have just said goodbye to Alex Kingston, after she lost the dance-off to Balvinder Sopal – who now holds the record for the most won.

But last weekend also saw Amber and Nikita score their perfect 40. But it appears they didn’t expect it, because Amber wasn’t feeling like her best self.

Amber Davies on ‘difficult’ illness

While appearing on It Takes Two last night (December 1) Amber revealed to Fleur that she is “really tired”.

Fleur asked her how she was “dealing with the pace” of the dances every week, which forced Amber to reveal she isn’t doing it well.

Amber stated: “I’m not. I am not dealing with anything, actually. Really am not.”

Nikita jumped in and said that they are both “tired” from it all.

She explained: “We are really tired. Last week, I had a cold. And I know that sounds so basic.

“But when you are doing the Jive and you can’t breathe through your nose, it is quite difficult.

“And I had blocked ears. So, I couldn’t even really hear any of the music.”

Fleur was sympathetic, admitting she wouldn’t want the cold to be this coming week, as having a runny nose while dancing the Charleston would be “really hard”.

She said: “Thank goodness your through it, because you wouldn’t have wanted it this week.”

Amber on getting through to Musical week

However, Amber isn’t letting the cold keep her down. Instead, she is putting her focus on Musicals week – the one theme she desperately wanted to be in the competition for.

Over the last few years, Amber has been appearing on Musicals herself. So, it’s no surprise that she was hoping to make it to this week. And she successfully has.

Amber admitted: “Once we got to Blackpool, I thought ‘Musical week is coming up, I would really like to get there’.”

She continued: “I am over the moon. I feel like this whole week I will be grinning like a Cheshire Cat. It’s a dream week.”

As for what we can expect from their performance, Nikita explained they will be going all-out.

He said: “We can expect absolutely everything. But at the same time, we are still trying to tell a story, because it is a musical. And one of Amber’s best qualities is her ability to tell a story. And she is from the musical world. It’s so nice because this week I took my foot off the gas. She knows this is her world, she can just go out and enjoy it.”
