Ant and Dec reveal ‘truth’ behind ‘insane’ Gemma Collins I'm A Celebrity eating trial as it breaks shock show record
The trial was hugeI’m A Celebrity is nearing the end of its first week and Gemma Collins has returned to the show to redeem herself. But it seems that it actually took quite some time to complete.
Gemma impressed everyone by actually getting stuck into the trial, not afraid to actually get involved. She made it very clear she wants to prove to everyone that she can do it, and won’t walk away this time.
The trial was shown over two episodes, and while viewers hated the cliffhanger, ITV needed to break it up a bit. That’s because the whole thing actually took quite a long time to film.

Gemma lost the I’m A Celebrity trial to Craig Charles
Main camp chose to Craig over Gemma, which meant the GC had to try to win food for Savannah Scrub – the worse camp.
They were desperate for food, and all the pressure was on Gemma. But shockingly, she actually tried her hardest.
While ultimately it came down to a tie-breaker, and Craig took home the win, the GC definitely proved she was here to try her hardest this time.
But hosts of the show, Ant and Dec, have now opened up about filming the trial. And it makes sense why Gemma may have been done by the end.

Ant and Dec reveal how long it took to film
However, on the newest episode of their podcast, Hanging Out With Ant and Dec, the pair discussed what filming the trial was like. And it appears it actually took them longer than they ever thought it would.

Ant commented: “Gemma Collins and Craig Charles. Their introduction was epic. And their first eating trial was just insane. It actually took almost four hours to complete that trial.”
And it seems it took so long that the other campmates who were watching the show, actually started to fall asleep.
He continued: “So, you know when they came out and they sat down. Then they had to eat for the other side. It took so long that Adam Thomas was literally falling asleep. It took that long.
“It was the longest trial ever. A new record for, four hours.”
Dec agreed: “Four hours for a trip in the middle of the night. Adam kept falling asleep, then he would just wake up and yell ‘Come on, Gemma’ then pop back off again.”
But it seems Adam wasn’t the only one who was wanting to nap. Ant explained: “Ashley Roberts, she was gone as well. Elbow drop. But it was great.”
The duo went on to confirm that the “really strong” start actually gets even better as two late arrivals are about to enter.
Ant commented: “There’s laughs, there’s arguments, isn’t there? There’s drama. It has got everything in this series. So, if you haven’t watched, start watching.”
