Barney Walsh reveals possible Strictly Come Dancing future as dad Bradley in the running to host show

A few months ago, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman revealed they were stepping down from their Strictly hosting roles. And that left the question of who would be taking their place.
Since the news broke, many huge names have been thrown into the mix. And one of them was Bradley Walsh. And as he and son, Barney Walsh prepare for the new series of Gladiators, they both reveal if they would ever put on some dancing shoes.
Would Bradley or Barney Walsh ever do Strictly?
In an interview with Heat Magazine, Bradley and Barney revealed all on their new series of Gladiators, which starts tonight (January 17) at 5.45pm on BBC One.
But while the stars were speaking about what to expect, they were asked if they would ever take part on Strictly Come Dancing. And it seemed this is where the pair had differing ideas.
Bradley explained that he didn’t want to “ruin” the show for him. And so, seeing him dance is not something fans should wait for.
He explained: “Um, no. I love the show too much. I’m not a dancer. I can’t dance. But that is one of our favourite shows at home. My wife and I love it. So, I wouldn’t want to ruin that.”
Barney, however, remained more vague on his answer. And while it doesn’t seem like something he would be up for right away, it definitely sounds like a possibility in the future.
He told the outlet: “I think never say never, so. But right now, my passion is in making shows and acting. That’s what I want to continue to do.”
They were asked the same question about the Traitors, and both of them agreed that the show is “fun”.
So, while they didn’t give much away, Bradley competing on Strictly would be a little hard if he is the new host. And that’s been something a lot of people are hoping for.
Who is the new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing?
As of right now (January 17) the new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing has not been revealed. But there has been quite a lot of speculation.
For the last few months, Bradley has been a frontrunner to be the new host of Strictly. With many reports even suggesting he could be co-hosting with Alex Jones or Holly Willoughby.
But, in December, Bradley finally acknowledged the rumours on Scott Mills’ BBC Radio Two Breakfast Show with fellow guest Denise Welch.
He told them: “Presenting Strictly would ruin the weekend!” as he explained he spends his weekends watching football and TV.
“Fridays and Saturdays. I think it’s a big old commitment,” Bradley admitted.
However, Denise and Scott felt like he wasn’t being very sincere about his feelings. Denise added: “Because he’s got that twinkle, I never believe Bradley Walsh, whatever he says. It could be a long-winded way of saying he’s doing it.”
Scott agreed and even added: “He did tell one of the [staff] he’s doing it with Alex Jones.”
So, could Bradley end up presenting a show that his son will actually compete in? That would be very exciting to watch…
