Emmerdale’s latest early release on ITVX finally confirms the whereabouts of two characters who have been missing for weeks – Bear Wolf and Anya. The developments indicate that neither of them is in a good situation, leaving major questions about how, and if, they can be helped.

Paddy discovers Bear never made it to Ireland

Tonight’s episode sees Paddy face the unsettling truth that something is very wrong with his dad’s disappearance.

Earlier this year, father and son had reached breaking point after a heated argument during Bear’s emotional decline. Bear left shortly afterwards, and Paddy assumed he had gone to stay with old wrestling friends in Ireland.

However, viewers knew the story was not that simple, as Bear was shown alone in an isolated, unidentified location – but certainly not in Ireland.

Since then, Bear has vanished from screens. In tonight’s episode, a parcel arrives addressed to him, prompting Paddy to open it after realising they haven’t heard from Bear since July. Inside is a letter from Gnasha, the friend Bear was supposedly staying with. The letter confirms Bear never went.

Alarmed, Paddy begins calling Bear’s other acquaintances, only to learn no one has seen or heard from him for months.

Mandy initially suggests Bear may simply be sulking after being thrown out. But Paddy is unconvinced. He points out Bear would never ignore Eve’s birthday, regardless of their falling out. Realising something is genuinely wrong, Paddy calls the police.

Anya resurfaces after disappearing from the Miligans’ home

Meanwhile, the episode also addresses the disappearance of Anya, the stowaway found last month in the back of one of Caleb’s vans.

Although Caleb wanted her gone due to the legal risks of harbouring an illegal immigrant, Ruby insisted on helping her. She brought Anya home, cleaned her up and fed her. She even asked Liam to check on her health. Ruby quickly became attached, much to Caleb’s frustration.

Anya, however, disappeared shortly afterwards, realising the trouble she could cause for the family. Ruby was devastated, not knowing what had become of the young woman.
