Blue Lights leads what’s best to watch on TV tonight, but there’s plenty of other great stuff too.

For starters, there’s not one but two top-drawer dramas at pivotal points in their latest series. The aforementioned Blue Lights concludes its third run, while Trigger Point reveals the outcome of last night’s bombshell…

Ahead of this, there’s Come Dine With Me daftness with a MAFS UK crossover.

Best Drama: Trigger Point

How could we not recommend tonight’s Trigger Point – episode 4 in this third series – after a massive explosion last night appeared to kill Rich Manning

Meanwhile, the bomber still has one hostage and wants them to confess their part in the corporate asbestos cover-up at Coldmarsh. He’s even broadcasting the unfolding drama, but at least that means there’s a chance Lana can track down their location.

Best Documentary Series: Pete Wicks For Dogs’ Sake

Doing his best Paul O’Grady’s For the Love of Dogs impression is The Only Way is Essex legend Pete Wicks.

He certainly knows the easiest road to the nation’s heart: wagging tails. In For Dogs’ Sake series 2 episode 4, Pete meets a pregnant Malinois who must regain her strength in order to look after 11 puppies. Elsewhere, there’ll be a collective ‘Awwww!’ shared for a scar-covered Staffie named Winter.

Best Reality Series: Married at First Sight Does Come Dine With Me

Come Dine With Me dishes us a fresh special, this time with stars from its stablemate Married At First UK.

Tonight’s episode is the first of five instalments stripped across the week, as MAFS UK series 9 trio Emma Barnes, Kieran Chapman and Kristina Goodsell break bread with the previous series’ Paul Liba and Ella Morgan. They’re competing for £1,000 to give to their chosen charity.

A teaser description for the opening episode reads: “It’s bite at first sight as culinary competitiveness meets marriage mayhem! Will Emma Barnes’ wedding-inspired menu be a match made in heaven?”

When and where to watch: 7.30pm on E4.

Best Crime Drama: Blue Lights

Northern Ireland-set police procedural Blue Lights is fast becoming the new Line of Duty for the Beeb.

The series 3 climax promises to tie up multiple loose ends as horrifically injured officer Shane Bradley considers his future from a hospital bed. Stevie Neill and Grace Ellis’ up-and-down relationship still has a huge question mark hanging over it, while gangster Donal Fogerty makes a mistake when dealing with the ruthless Tina McIntyre.

There’s also a face from the past who re-emerges for one of the episode’s most jaw-dropping moments. Roll on series 4!

Best film: Candyman (2021)

Directed by 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’s Nia DaCosta, this supernatural horror sequel will have you avoiding bees forever.

Candyman is the fourth entry in this eponymous franchise, and takes place between 1995’s Farewell to the Flesh and 1999’s Day of the Dead, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II taking centre stage as a man possessed by a legend.

As artist Anthony relocates to Cabrini-Green with his girlfriend, a chance encounter exposes him to the truth behind the Candyman myth. Prepare to spend the last part of your evening peeping from under the covers.

When and where to watch: 10.30pm on BBC Three.
