Britain’s Got Talent viewers slammed the show tonight (February 21) for “poor taste” after auditionee Paul Nunnari performed a silk routine.

Coming all the way from Australia, 52-year-old para-athlete Paul, who was in a wheelchair, made quite the impression on the panel.

With the audience and viewers anticipating what his act would be, Paul kicked off his performance by climbing up red fabric material, while still in his chair.

Once he reached the top, he began to swing around repeatedly. However, the stunt became more impressive when he did it with one hand.

That said, Paul had more up his sleeve. He returned to the ground to be blind folded and then re-climbed the fabric.

The time, he spun around with a safety strap around his neck.

The panel and audience were stunned, and many gave Paul a standing ovation. Simon praised him for talent and gave him the first golden buzzer of the series.

That said, despite its “do not try this at home warning,” many viewers immediately complained online, believing the audition wasn’t acceptable on television.

‘This is not on for prime time TV’

@ITV You really should consider the potential consequences of validating a guy in a wheelchair with a [safety strap] around his neck. [Bleep]s #BGT #britainsgottalent #OFFCOM,” one user wrote on X.

“People will try copying it after that,” another person shared.

“Someone spinning from height with a [safety strap] around their neck is not on for prime time TV. Poor taste,” a third said.

‘He was amazing’

Meanwhile, others weren’t so offended and loved the performance.

“He was amazing, what an inspiration,” one said.

“Absolutely amazing, such a well-deserved golden buzzer,” another insisted.

Paul was absolutely great and a brilliant demonstration of what you can achieve if you have a disability, but not sure how it will pan out as a career,” a third declared.
