Picking up a week after episode 1 ended, the ED crew is launched into yet another drama when the roof of Holby Grammar School collapses, trapping students and teachers inside.

But while new medics Kim and Matty are thrown into the deep end with their first major incident, Stevie puts the pressure on nervous Kim, with shocking results.

School roof collapse tragedy

Teddy and Jacob are on the scene of the incident, getting the injured out with the help of the police. But, back at Holby ED, Kim is terrified as the team gets ready for the influx of patients.

As Teddy and the emergency response team work to get the final remaining victims out of the school wreckage, Stevie and Kim are called to help.

According to Stevie, Kim is there purely to observe. But when a patient needs emergency help and Stevie is nowhere to be found, Kim is forced to take matters into her own hands.

Kim finally proves her worth in Casualty

Trapped in an unsafe area of the crumbling school, a nervous Kim faces a baptism of fire when she must perform an emergency procedure on schoolboy Oscar. With Stevie, who has now reappeared, shouting instructions, Kim eventually saves Oscar’s life.

Stevie is full of praise that her mentee has finally shown that she’s got what it takes to perform under pressure. But Kim still looks like a rabbit in the headlights as she gets into the ambulance to take Oscar to the hospital.

As she hands her patient over to the medical team in the ED, Flynn is full of praise, but still, Kim is struggling.

Later, after their shift from hell, Stevie tells Kim that she is taking her for a drink. But Kim looks like she would rather the ground swallow her up and makes excuses, leaving Stevie totally confused.

Casualty tonight: Siobhan gives Faith shocking news

While the fallout from the school roof collapse unfolds in Casualty, Siobhan notices that Faith isn’t herself and suggests it might be the perimenopause. Faith is quick to dismiss the idea, but agrees to check her hormone levels anyway.

Siobhan tells Faith she will fast-track her blood test. It isn’t long before she uncovers the real reason Faith has been feeling out of sorts… she’s pregnant!

With her marriage to Iain hanging by a thread, this isn’t the news that Faith was hoping for. It turns out night sweats and menopausal hormone outbursts wouldn’t have been so bad after all!

In a touching scene, Siobhan talks to Faith about the breakdown of her relationship with Iain. Faith reveals that Iain has moved out and that, after three children, she isn’t sure she wants another baby.

Will she tell Iain her baby news?

Dylan takes matters into his own hands in Casualty

After last week’s shocking realisation that new recruit Matty might be his son after a university fling, Dylan’s head isn’t in the game.

He fluffs up a simple procedure, prompting Jodie to step in and help, and Stevie worries about her friend. Dylan tells Stevie that being Matty’s dad is all he can think about, but when she suggests phoning his old girlfriend, Sarah, Dylan shoots her down.

Deciding there must be another way to find out if he is related to Matty, Dylan later spots his chance. Matty tests himself after coming in contact with a Strep A patient and he throws his swab, covered in this DNA, in the bin.

Despite it being completely unethical, Dylan grabs the swab when no one is looking. Later, he takes his own DNA sample, ready to send off for testing.

But will he get the results he’s expecting? And how is he going to explain his findings to Matty if they are related?

Casualty tonight: Matty’s huge mistake comes back to bite him

Last week’s episode saw Matty horrified when he faced his first patient death. Tragedy struck when homeless man Claude Thompson died on the waiting room floor during a particularly busy shift.

Claude died from a pulmonary embolism, and this week, Flynn wants Matty to sign the death certificate.

Flynn has no idea that whistleblower Matty has called the Care Quality Commission about Claude’s death, and goes on to shock the newbie by revealing this isn’t the first death of its shameful type they have had in Holby ED. Matty is further surprised when Flynn reveals that Claude had no relatives and will have a public health act funeral.

More convinced than ever that he made the right decision calling for an inspection, Matty vows to raise money for Claude to have a proper funeral. But when he sees others have already started a collection, he realises he is working with good people.

Later, a chat with Jodie makes Matty reassess his actions, and he calls the CQC to withdraw his complaint.

Our guess is that this is all going to come back to haunt Matty in the not-too-distant future. But has he withdrawn his complaint quickly enough? Or are the CQC already on their way?

Teddy’s love life is looking up

Among all the drama at the school, Teddy hits it off with a police officer and lands himself a date!

When Teddy meets Ashley Sullivan while they search for injured victims, his authority impresses her as he takes charge. The pair work together to save little Oscar from the wreckage, and later Ashley asks Teddy out for a drink.

At first, Teddy turns Ashley down. He tells Jacob that if he learned one thing from his romance with Jodie, it is that work relationships are tricky.

But his gut is telling him things could be different with Ashley, so he races after her and agrees to a drink.

Could this be the start of a new romance for the paramedic?

Casualty tonight: Ngozi’s future is revealed

Last week’s episode left fans fearing the worst for Ngozi, but it turned out she was getting help in rehab.

This week’s episode sees Nicole collecting Ngozi from rehab. But sadly, there’s no fairytale ending for the pair.

Despite the spark between them, Ngozi tells Nicole that advisors have told her to avoid relationships for a year after rehab. Then, after Nicole drops her home, Ngozi drops another bombshell. She admits that she needs to focus on her recovery and asks Nicole not to contact her.

Nicole tells Ngozi that she understands and walks away, broken-hearted. Is this really the end for the pair?
