ITV’s Celebrity Sabotage leaves viewers seriously divided after first episode

Viewers watching Celebrity Sabotage have been left divided following its first episode.

The new ITV show debuted on screens on Saturday evening (March 21) and saw a line-up of famous faces secretly sabotage unsuspecting contestants, in a bid to build a prize pot of up to £30,000.

Leading the mischief were Joel Dommett, Judi Love, Sam Thompson and GK Barry, who pulled the strings from a hidden HQ.

However, already one episode in and Celebrity Sabotage has ruffled plenty of feathers…

Celebrity Sabotage airs first episode

In the first episode of Celebrity Sabotage, six contestants took part in a business-style competition called The Applicant, fronted by entrepreneur Sara Davies.

However, off camera, the celebs watched the contestants’ every move in their own HQ before being set their own sabotage missions, including disrupting a wedding video. Comedian Jo Brand also joined in on the shenanigans to try and sabotage the contestants.

However, following the first episode, the reception was mixed, with plenty of viewers sharing their thoughts online.

Viewers react to Celebrity Sabotage

“Some negative miseries complaining, lighten up. I loved it, funny, daft, Saturday night telly, a bit of a laugh, much needed in this miserable country and even more miserable platform. Thank you,” said one person on X.

Another added: “This was good.” A third penned: “I’m Actually Loving This Programme.”

A fourth also penned: “Honestly I knew I was going to like #CelebritySabotage, it’s a great show with a great cast and I really like how the fake shows are rip-offs of others. Definitely will be watching next week.”

This is appallingly bad

Nonetheless, other people were not as keen. One person fumed: “This is as much fun as having a toothache, @ITV churns out some rubbish & this one is right up there. It’s a waste of our time, it makes you look forward to seeing the adverts!”

Another added: “This is appallingly bad even for ITV. How long before it’s shunted to 4.30 Sunday afternoon?”

A third penned: “How do programmes like these ever get commissioned. Utter rubbish.”

Who is on Celebrity Sabotage

Each episode of Celebrity Sabotage will feature a different fake reality show, with celebrities working undercover to sabotage tasks without being caught. The more chaos they create, the bigger the final prize pot for contestants.

Each week, more big names, including Emma Willis, Matt Willis, Clare Balding and Rylan Clark, will host fake shows. Therefore, viewers can expect plenty more surprises along the way.
