Celebrity Traitors' Alan Carr admits his family are 'proud' of him for 'murdering national treasures'

Will he and Cat Burns win the game?

Alan Carr has received a few pats on the back from his family for “murdering national treasures” on Celebrity Traitors.

Tomorrow’s (November 6) tantalising series finale pits Alan and fellow Traitor Cat Burns against the three Faithfuls: David Olusoga, Nick Mohammed and Joe Marler. To reach this stage of the game, the bespectacled comedian has expertly killed two players in plain sight.

Excluding the turret death warrants, his victims were close friend Paloma Faith and actress Celia Imrie.

Alan has since told the BBC that his loved ones are “strangely proud” of him for his actions.

Celebrity Traitors star Alan Carr’s family ‘proud’

In conversation with the BBC ahead of the Celebrity Traitors finale, Alan admitted he never thought he’d get this far.

“I think me and the entire nation didn’t believe I would get through the first roundtable, let alone be in the final five,” he said.

“The strange thing is, weirdly even though we’ve been murdering and banishing national treasures, Olympians, intellectuals and popular entertainers, my family are still strangely proud of me. Which is frankly quite odd.”

His first kill was popstar Paloma, sneakily rubbing ‘poison’ lily pollen on her face in front of everyone. Together with Cat and Jonathan Ross, Alan later bumped off Tom Daley, Ruth Codd, Charlotte Church, Joe Wilkinson and Lucy Beaumont.

Next came English treasure Celia, who Alan recited “parting is such sweet sorrow” to at the dinner party as instructed. This dramatically sealed her fate.

Fan reaction to Celia Imrie’s murder

As the helpless Celia’s murder aired on BBC One last week, fans of the show turned on Alan via social media.

One user wrote on X: “Alan you just killed off Celia. What the [bleep] man #CelebrityTraitors.”

“Alan I am not happy, Celia was supposed to wiiiinnnnn!!!!!! #CelebrityTraitors #TheTraitorsUK,” stressed another person. “Alan should be ashamed of himself #CelebrityTraitors,” claimed a third.

“Nooooo! Cat and Alan have gone too far this time !! #celebritytraitors,” read a fourth reaction.

“Noooo! Well that is unforgivable Alan!” and “Nooooo Not living legend Celia, Alan how could you #CelebrityTraitors,” echoed two more enraged Celebrity Traitors viewers.

Celia Imrie reacts to her murder

Celia appeared on the Celebrity Traitors after-show Uncloaked following her exit, where host Ed Gamble gave her a scroll revealing Alan and Cat’s treachery.

Before unravelling it, she shared her suspicions over Alan and Joe Marler, as they’d been “particularly nice” to her. Upon reading Cat’s name, she responded: “Oh my God. She was my second vote. God damn it, little minx! Little devil, congratulations.”

So when Alan’s name popped up on the document, you can imagine the frustration she felt.

“Oh [bleep], honestly! You see!” she raged. “Alan, how can you! Argh! I did have [have suspicions] and he did this whole act of when I said ‘I’m worried about you.’ Wait til I meet him next. I hate them both!”
