BBC shuts down 'completely untrue' Celebrity Traitors 'feud' claims

Stephen and David were reported to have clashed behind the scenes

The Celebrity Traitors has been nothing short of gripping so far, with tensions amongst the cast continuing to rise as the Faithfuls struggle to work out who is a Traitor.

With the celebrities having to remain suspicious of one another and avoid forming close alliances, it came as no surprise when it was reported that a ‘feud’ had erupted behind-the-scenes during filming.

Two contestants were claimed to have exchanged words off-screen. However, the BBC has since insisted there’s no truth to the rumours.

Celebrity Traitors alleged ‘feud’

Reports recently surfaced claiming that Stephen Fry and David Olusoga had been embroiled in an argument off-screen while filming Celebrity Traitors. It was reported that the conversation between the two stars led to the pair falling out.

A TV source claimed that other celebrities were in shock and the row had become a “talking point behind the scenes”. They also claimed the feud was “unlikely” to be aired on the BBC show as the scenes wouldn’t “follow the narrative”.

The insider told the Daily Mail: “They were so invested in the game, and it really showed during their debates.”

The BBC has since shut down the claims, insisting they are false.

A spokesperson for The Celebrity Traitors told Metro: “To claim there was any tension between Stephen Fry and David Olusoga outside of the game is simply untrue.”

Stephen Fry’s banishment

In Thursday’s (October 23) episode of Celebrity Traitors, Stephen became the fifth celebrity to be banished in emotional scenes.

Despite both Jonathan Ross and Joe Marler’s names frequently coming up at the roundtable, it was Stephen who received the majority of votes.

Upon exiting, Stephen issued an emotional speech to his co-stars. He said: “I had the best fun in years, you’re an extraordinary group of people.”

He added: “To be part of such a group is a privilege and an honour. Thank you, there’s no hard feelings. I promise.”

Stephen proceeded to inform the group he was a Faithful. This meant the group had once again failed to catch a Traitor.

Fans at home were left feeling emotional over Stephen’s exit. One person wrote on X: “I’m amazed he lasted this long – I thought they’d all gun for him early doors – but Sir Stephen Fry breaks a nation’s hearts as he exits. #TheCelebrityTraitors #TheTraitors #CelebrityTraitors.”

“Omg Stephen! These Faithfuls are so dumb #CelebrityTraitors,” another penned. A third commented: “It’s mad how bad they are at finding Traitors. Sort of get why they thought it was Stephen but no idea how Jonathan is still there #TheTraitors #CelebrityTraitors.”
