Celebrity Traitors' Paloma Faith blasts Alan Carr for 'betraying' her in the first murder of series

"I still maintain to this day that if the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn’t have done that"

Paloma Faith has slammed her good friend Alan Carr for ‘murdering’ her first in The Celebrity Traitors.

It was assumed the Chatty Man would pick another target, such as Ruth Codd or Clare Balding, so he surprised us all when he decided to bump off Paloma.

Alan sealed the deal by touching the singer’s face. And, in true Traitors fashion, Paloma was eliminated from the game when she was forced to attend her own funeral.

Safely out the castle and away from the Traitors’ clutches, Paloma, 44, later learned the truth on spin-off BBC2 show and podcast The Traitors: Uncloaked – and it’s safe to say she wasn’t a happy bunny.

The Celebrity Traitors: Paloma’s reacts to her ‘murder’

Speaking with host Ed Gamble, Paloma gasped when she saw Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr and Cat Burns were responsible for her murder. “These are like three of my favourite people!” she said. “I hope they never call me again! I mean that. Bang out of order!”

Paloma continued: “I feel even more betrayed now. I feel betrayed by Jonathan and Alan. Cat is on the same record label as me and she should have some loyalty.”

But it is comedian Alan’s involvement that has hit her hardest, as the pair have a long-standing friendship. Paloma didn’t suspect the 49-year-old, adding she wouldn’t have murdered him if she was cast as a Traitor.

“I still maintain to this day that if the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn’t have done that,” she said. “He shouldn’t have done that to me and I’m surprised that he did. I categorically would not have touched Alan’s face. Maybe it was the easiest option. But it was the choice he made and I think it was not very nice.”

However, Paloma has admitted they have since cleared the air and there is no hard feelings: “But he is extremely lovable and I’ve spoken to him since and I do find forgiveness quite an easy thing,” she added. “I was the only face he was willing to touch!”

Paloma Faith’s suspicions

Paloma admitted she did notice one small clue about Alan’s guilt. “I did keep asking Alan why he was sweating so much,” she laughed. “I remember being like, ‘I didn’t think men got the menopause’. He kept saying he had a sweating problem and I was like ‘I’ve never noticed it before when we’ve spent time together’.”

However, the star, who played pierced emo Andrea in the 2007 St Trinians film, said she enjoyed attending her own funeral.

She recalled: “It was astonishing and I did think, ‘What a send off’. I didn’t know at the time it was mine, but I did think everyone looks really cool. It was like a high fashion campaign shoot.”

The Celebrity Traitors: Round Table results

The Celebrity Traitors returns for episode 3 on BBC One on Wednesday 15 October. The results of the first Round Table will then be revealed, after viewers were left on a cliffhanger.

So far, Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway and social media star Niko Omilana have each received three votes. EastEnders’ Tameka Empson finished the episode with two votes, while Olympic diver Tom Daley had one.

Paloma believes Tom could get the boot.

“I probably would have gone for him,” she said. “I thought his outfit at the funeral was very serial killery. It was like American Psycho with the buttons done all the way down.”

Meanwhile, only Clare Balding suspects Alan Carr may be a Traitor. She thinks Paloma’s murder was used as a double-bluff to keep suspicion off him. We can’t wait to see more twists and turns!
