Celebrity Traitors fans puzzled as Charlotte Church avoids death letter and is murdered in bed: 'Did they forget to film it?'

There was a big format change with the latest murder

Celebrity Traitors star Charlotte Church is the latest star to leave the show – but her death scene has left fans confused.

As always, Traitors Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr and Cat Burns met under the cloak of darkness to decide who to kill.

They had narrowed it down to Charlotte, historian David Olusoga and Kate Garraway, before plumping for the Welsh singer.

But instead of receiving a letter telling her she’d been murdered, 39-year-old Charlotte was killed in her bed.

Celebrity Traitors: Where was Charlotte’s letter?

At the start of last night’s (October 22) episode, it was revealed the classical music singer was the Traitors’ latest victim.

When discussing who to murder, Charlotte’s name cropped up, with Cat telling the other Traitors her murder would be “confusing”. Jonathan added: “If she gets a bead on any of us, she’s going to run with it. I think people might listen.”

But when the murder happened, it didn’t follow the usual format of the show. The victim is usually taken to a room in the castle and handed a letter. The letter then reveals they have been murdered by the Traitors.

Instead, Charlotte was seen lying in her bed in her pyjamas. She suddenly sat up at the sound of a scream. She did appear in the castle room but already knew she was dead.

Charlotte said: “There we are. I thought I was going to be murdered. I’m outspoken at the Round Table and I’m outspoken with my opinions.”

But fans were left seriously puzzled when Charlotte was killed in her bed and not handed a letter.

Taking to X, one viewer wrote: “Haha what was that little murder scene? Did they forget to film Charlotte reading the letter?”

Another said: “No way did we get a spooky little video of the murder scene?” A third chipped in: “Omg that was genuinely terrifying!”

Why did Charlotte Church not receive a death letter?

Celebrity Traitors host Claudia Winkleman had previously warned the celebrities they would be killed by a screaming banshee. At the end of episode 4 (16 October), Claudia told the audience that this killing would look different.

“Wailing banshees cry warnings of imminent death,” she said.

“One celebrity will hear a different sound. It will not be pleasant. In fact, it will be deadly. The wailing banshees are coming – but, for who?”

It came following the Mission in episode 4. During the task, the celebrities had to find screaming banshees in the forest surrounding Ardross Castle. The format twist saw one of them return to Charlotte’s bedroom to murder her.

When asked to describe her experience on the hit TV show, Charlotte told the BBC that it “restored her faith in celebrities”.

“It was wonderful to spend time with some really very interesting people. I think that’s been my favourite part of the experience,” she said.

Who has left The Celebrity Traitors?

Charlotte is the latest famous face to meet her fate. She joins Paloma Faith, Tom Daley and Ruth Codd in the celebrity graveyard.

Meanwhile, Niko Omilana, Tameka Empson and Clare Balding have all been Faithfuls wrongly banished at the Round Tables.

Last night’s episode of The Celebrity Traitors saw an unprecedented Round Table. The vote was a tie twice, with Mark Bonnar and David Olusoga being picked as a potential Traitor by the others.

The show ended on a major cliffhanger, with no one knowing how it will be resolved. Claudia has warned that “chance” will decide, while one former Traitors contestant has revealed what the rule book states.
