Complete Emmerdale schedule: What time it's on ITV tonight and when it drops on ITVX and YouTube
All the changes you need for Emmerdale right hereThe Emmerdale ITV schedule is changing once again tonight (Thursday October 9) as the soap won’t air at all, nor will it be on ITVX or YouTube.
The changes are usually down to a one-off TV special or a sporting event. And in this case it’s the latter as Emmerdale is taken off air to make way for a big football match.

Why is Emmerdale not on tonight?
Emmerdale usually airs at 7.30pm every weeknight. But it is not on tonight, Thursday October 9 because of live international football. England are playing Wales in a friendly match at Wembley Stadium. Kick off is at 7.45pm, which would be smack bang in the middle of when Emmerdale should be on.
As there is no episode tonight, it is also not available on ITVX or YouTube where it is usually released every day at 7am.
The soap will be back on Friday night (October 10) in it’s slot of 7.30pm.

What happens in Emmerdale on Friday
Things got heated between Nicola and Dawn on Wednesday night (October 8) after their sons, Carl and Lucas, got into a fight at school. They had no idea what it was about and think the matter has been put to bed.
However during the last episode of the week on Friday, the police turn up at both houses. Everyone is left stunned when the cops reveal Clemmie sent Carl an indecent photo of herself and he has shared it with the school. Both kids are in trouble and Dawn and Nicola cannot believe what is happening. How can they resolve this?
Also, Belle and Kammy have slept together and something isn’t right. Have they rushed into things too soon? Are they regretting what happened between them?
Elsewhere, Charity is still trying to keep her baby secret from everyone. Chas isn’t happy and wants her to tell the truth. Meanwhile, Sarah is getting suspicious and vows to get to the bottom of everything. Will Charity confess?

All change to the ITV soaps in January
It’s set to be a completely new schedule in January 2026 as the ITV soaps introduce a so-called power hour. Emmerdale will move from its 7.30pm slot to 8pm every weeknight. It will also cut its hour-long Thursday episode to just half an hour. Episodes will still be available on ITVX and YouTube every morning at 7am.
Coronation Street will then go from three hour-long episodes a week, to five half-hour long ones. It will air every weeknight directly after Emmerdale at 8.30ppm.
This ensures faster-paced, digestible episodes – a 30-minute format which has already proven popular with viewers.
