Fans on social media have been busy theorising about how actor Daniel Brocklebank’s much-loved man of the cloth will bow out of the soap.
And one particular theory sees Billy die in dreadful circumstances, while revisiting an old storyline for him.

Billy Mayhew death in Coronation Street exit?
After rumours of his exit this spring, Daniel Brocklebank confirmed that he would be leaving Coronation Street after over a decade on the show.
Billy’s exit is anticipated over the coming festive period – and expected to be issue-led, after reports suggested he would be killed off.
A source told The Sun: “Corrie bosses are busy plotting how to kill off Billy, having decided to axe Daniel earlier this year.
“There aren’t any plans to bring him back onto the soap. So it makes sense to make his exit the most impactful and explosive it can be.
“It’s likely Billy will be a focus point of the Christmas/New Year storylines, with fans expected to be at the edge of their seats in the run-up.”
Meanwhile, Daniel said: “I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.
“I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.”

Corrie fan theory predicts Billy to bow out with drugs overdose death
So, knowing that Billy is to exit with a bang, Coronation Street nuts are homing in on a heartbreaking death.
Harking back to his previous struggle with addiction, Entertainment Daily reports a Reddit fan theory about Billy overdosing.
Someone on a Corrie thread there asked: “How and when do people think he’ll die?”
A second fan commented simply: “Heroin overdose.”
Billy of course struggled with painkiller addiction after a fall from a cliff in 2018 left him in agony with severe back pain. When unable to access sufficient prescription medication to feed his dependence on them, he resorted to illegal drugs, resulting in full-blown heroine addiction.
He subsequently got clean and got his life back on track, but could a series of life blows lead him back?
Another theory on the same subReddit thread has Billy dying at the hands of Theo, with the fan saying: “So do we think Theo’s going to kill him then? I have a feeling that’s where this is headed… killed protecting Todd.
While both are interesting theories, it’s important to underline that Coronation Street has given no indication at all about how Billy Mayhew will exit at this point.
