Deal or No Deal disaster as tearful single mum loses out on huge payday

Deal or No Deal viewers were left wincing today (January 26) as Becca faced The Banker, only to miss out on a potentially bigger payday.
Host Stephen Mulhern had barely introduced the game – the latest from the new series – before Becca grew emotional talking about life as a single mum to her son Freddie.
But three rounds in, things got a lot worse for the player…
Becca takes a risk on the board
By round three, Becca had already eliminated the £50,000, £75,000 and £100,000 boxes.
With £25,000 still in play, The Banker made her an offer of £2,520 — and Becca politely declined.
Stephen reminded her: “You need to protect from at least the £5,000 down. You’ve got to get back into the blues.”
However, viewers did wonder how she was meant to do that when Deal or No Deal is a game of chance…
Becca settles — just missing out on £5,000
The game then took a dramatic turn after Becca eliminated the £25,000 box. Only 50p, £5, £10, £5,000 and £7,500 remained. The Banker offered £1,480. Becca accepted, saying: “Thank you Mr Banker. Deal.”
She said she was happy with that amount, and was looking forward to buying a towbar for her car so that she could take son Freddie on holidays in their caravan.
But the game wasn’t done there as Stephen then revealed how close she came to a larger sum. Opening the remaining boxes, the £10 and £5 were revealed first. The Banker’s next offer would have been £2,650. When the 50p was unveiled, The Banker would have offered £6,110.
Finally, the £5,000 box was opened — the prize Becca narrowly missed out on. If she had held out, she would have gone home with £5,000 instead of £1,480.
