Deal or No Deal's return date confirmed as Stephen Mulhern shares major news about today's show
Many thought the second series had come to an end, but it resumes today
Deal or No Deal returns today (January 5) with a brand-new episode, host Stephen Mulhern has confirmed.
Posting on Instagram last night, Stephen shared a video of himself on set as he revealed the news that series 2 continues today.
The announcement left some fans baffled, though. That’s because many thought the second series of the popular game show show had come to an end before Christmas after repeats started airing.
New Deal or No Deal eps start today on ITV1
After repeats of the game show aired on ITV1 between Christmas and New Year, it now appears that series 2 went on a festive break, rather than actually coming to an end. And, as a result, the second season of the game show continues today.
Stephen captioned the post: “It’s happening! Deal or No Deal is BACK tomorrow at 4pm on @itv and @itvxofficial! Boxes, big decisions and yes, The Banker has returned from his Christmas break. Let’s hope he was visited by three ghosts and is in a good mood this time!”
In the accompanying video, he said: “I always like to deliver good news and this is the best. Brand-new episodes start tomorrow. Don’t miss it.”

Viewers react as series 2 mystery solved
“Excellent been waiting for a new series,” said one. “Yay at last!! Have missed this! 4pm is coffee and DOND time!!!” said another. “What a way to start the new year! Love it!” said another. “Great. I’m fed up of all the recent repeats,” another declared.
“Finally! Great news,” said another, before complaining: “It would have been nice for ITV to explain it was on a Christmas break rather than just carrying on like everything was normal and placing repeats on and confusing people.”
Another also commented with news about the future of the show. “Superb news! We have 30 shows left of series 2 to be aired, along with the bumper episodes of series 3 for 2026/2027.”
