Deal or No Deal today: Simi plays a blinder as she steals five-figure sum from The Banker

She could've had £75k, though!

Deal or No Deal returned with a new episode today (January 8), with host Stephen Mulhern on hand to guide player Simi as she took on The Banker.

The law student was supported from the audience by her doting mum, who branded her daughter “an inspiration” as the game kicked off.

What happened on Deal or No Deal today?

Simi started off with what The Banker called “one of the best opening rounds” he’s seen. As a result, he made her an offer of £1,920. Her luck continued, with The Banker later upping the offer to £5,120, with £50k, £75k and £100k still on the board.

However, it wasn’t long before Simi’s game started to unravel, as the £100k was taken off the board by Brogan and The Banker reduced his offer to £4,020. Simi quickly answered “no deal”, though. She took out the £50k next, however.

With 1p, £2k, £5k, 7.5k and £75k left on the board, The Banker called again. This time, she was offered £5,325. She turned it down, though, going on to open the 1p and the £2k boxes next. “You’re going home with at least £5,000,” Stephen Mulhern told her.

So what did Simi end up winning?

The next offer came in at £12,850. Simi turned it down, opting to open another box. Her gamble paid off, as she took out the £5k box. The studio audience erupted, before The Banker came in with an offer of £29,500. Simi dealt.

But before heading off to spend her winnings on the iPad she said she wanted, Stephen made her open the box that was sitting in front of her.

Sadly for Simi, as her mum had insisted from the beginning, that contained the £75,000.

“Mum lost out on her own £30,000 chunk of the wonga,” joked one viewer. “OMG what a game,” said another, who also commented: “Love this show – mums are always right.”

“If the offer is enough for what you want, it doesn’t matter what’s in your box!” a third commented.

“Honestly she made the right decision for her. She already said she isn’t a risk taker. Such a wonderful amount of money she’s won. She’s played a great game from the start. Well done Simi,” another praised.

“I’m gonna need the lottery numbers from Simi’s mum please!” another quipped.
