Robert opens up about his time in prison in Emmerdale

After weeks of evasion, Robert finally revealed what really happened to him during his six years behind bars. He explained that he had been transferred back to Hotten Prison in 2020, where he shared a cell with Kev Townsend.

Robert recalled being attacked by a violent inmate named Jez and how Kev stepped in to defend him. Over time, their friendship deepened. Despite Kev identifying as straight, he made the first move and kissed Robert.

Their relationship took a dark turn when new evidence emerged that could have helped Robert appeal his sentence. Terrified of losing him, Kev stabbed himself and pretended it was a revenge attack for protecting Robert – manipulating him into staying close.

Faith Dingle’s return sparks emotion

In a touching twist, the episode featured the unexpected return of Faith Dingle. She visited Robert in prison, urging him to fight for his freedom and make peace with Aaron.

Faith, aware of her terminal illness, encouraged him to embrace love again, saying: “Get him back and hold him tight, a love like that should never go to waste.”

Her heartfelt words reignited Robert’s determination to appeal. When Kev objected to his plans, Robert lied that his sister Victoria had a brain tumour – something that is about to catch up with him.

Kev’s confessions and a huge reveal

Elsewhere, Kev opened up to Dr Liam Cavanagh about his pattern of dishonesty. He admitted he lied about almost everything – including his son. He revealed that he did, in fact, father a child after a one-night stand with a barmaid named “Emma-something,” who was later murdered.

As Kev spoke, Lewis Barton happened to walk past. It therefore confirmed the long-suspected truth: Lewis is Kev’s biological son.

Kev was later stunned to realise Robert had also been lying to him about Victoria’s illness. The fallout from these double deceptions is set to cause chaos in upcoming episodes.
