Emmerdale stars Chris Coghill and Will Ash have spoken about the future for Kev and Caleb, after the surprise attack on Billy.

For a while, fans have been wondering who attacked Billy. But one thing was for sure, they knew it wasn’t Joe Tate. However, with Caleb working so hard to make Billy believe it was him, some fans suspected he was behind it.

But it turns out he just knew the truth – that Kev was the one who did it. And now, stars Will Ash and Chris Coghill who play Caleb and Kev, spoke to Emmerdale Insider and other press at a recent event, and revealed what happens next.

Why did Kev attack Billy in Emmerdale?

As it turns out, Billy was simply found in a bad situation. And Kev felt like attacking him was the only way out.

After Claudette forced Kev’s ‘friend’ Steve out of the village, he decided to head to the depot for one last job. And Kev realised what was going on and decided he needed to stop him.

Kev actor Chris Coghill admitted: “It’s never shown on screen. But Kev follows to stop him. Billy’s just in the wrong place and the wrong time. Kev thinks he’s just given him a little love tap. Just to stop him in his tracks, but it ends up a bit more serious than that.

“He doesn’t want to reveal his part. Obviously he’s not going to. He’s trying not to hurt people anymore. You know, it is on his conscience.”

However, Kev assumes Billy knows the whole truth, and when he sees him next, he takes the opportunity to apologise, leaving Billy stunned that it wasn’t Joe at all.

How does Kev react to Caleb and Ruby’s demands?

But Caleb and Ruby already know the truth. And they want to use it to their own advantage. Will Ash, who plays Caleb, revealed Ruby initially takes control. She realises they can blackmail Kev into doing a job against Jimmy.

But obviously Kev has been working hard to get closer to Nicola, and so doing anything against her husband would immediately be a bad look.

Chris admitted: “Kev is really annoyed with them. He hates them.” But instead of exposing the whole thing, Kev tries to think of a much smarter solution – destroy the evidence.

While Caleb and Ruby are in the cafe on their laptop, Kev takes the opportunity to pour a jug of water over it, in the hopes to destroy the proof. But Will admitted that both Caleb and Ruby obviously have a little bit of fear in regards to Kev’s reactions.

He explained: “Caleb is scared of Kev. He’s obviously a live wire, they are playing with fire. They don’t know how to handle it. He is such a loose cannon, they never know what they’re going to get with him.

“But I think, Ruby certainly thinks she can outmanoeuvre him. But when it comes down to it, he is that much of a weapon that you can’t combat it.”

So, with Kev and Caleb going head-to-head, it will certainly be interesting to see who really comes out on top.
