Joe’s arrested for the attack on Billy, but Emmerdale fans are convinced they know exactly who the real culprit is
Joe was adamant he didn't do itEmmerdale has aired a huge update after Billy Fletcher’s attack, however fans aren’t convinced Joe Tate is the real culprit. Instead, they believe he is just a pawn in an even bigger game.
Billy was found unconscious at the Depot, after having upset quite a few people. So, when the police confirmed it was an attack, all eyes went straight onto Joe Tate.
While he was adamant of his innocence, there was quite a lot of evidence stacked against him. But after watching the full episode, some Emmerdale fans believe it was actually Billy’s own friend and boss, Caleb, who was behind the attack.

Joe was arrested as Caleb sent the police his way
Obviously, Joe Tate was a strong suspect for the attack. He had just discovered that Billy and Dawn kissed – after Caleb told him. And as soon as the police told Caleb and Kerry that it was an attack, they were very quick to point them in Joe’s direction.
Then later in the episode, Caleb headed to the pub to tell Marlon his theory. So, very quickly, everyone suspected that Joe was behind it all. And thanks to his previous behaviour, it all actually could be the very case.
Before long, the police had arrived to the hospital, just as Joe was protesting his innocence to Dawn. Unfortunately for him, he was the most obvious suspect, and so the police arrested him on the spot.

Emmerdale fans think another twist is coming after attack on Billy
However, after Caleb was so quick to point the finger at Joe, and just so happens to wipe the CCTV footage to protect his own illegal scheme, many fans think he may actually be responsible.
Taking to social media, one fan wrote: “I actually don’t think Joe did this. It has to be Caleb surely?”
Another added: “Obviously Caleb is the culprit.”
“Nothing on CCTV? Caleb is looking very guilty! How convenient. Also, interesting that he was so quick to point to Joe”, a third commented.
A fourth fan penned: “I’m starting to really think that maybe Caleb did it to frame Joe.”
Why would Caleb frame Joe for the attack, though? Well, Joe had just discovered Caleb’s illegal operation, and had threatened to expose the whole thing. So, perhaps Caleb saw this as his opportunity to get Joe out of the way for good.
However, Joe wasn’t the only one who wanted karma to get Billy, as Gabby repeatedly explained that he should watch his back after their break-up. So, could it have actually been her?
Fans will just have to wait and see if Billy survives the attack. And if he does wake up, will he remember who was the culprit?
