Players all have the same complaint

Traitors fans are so gripped by the BBC show that they are now acting it out at home with The Traitors Board Game.

Captivated viewers are rushing out and buying the Goliath game before getting their cloaks and lanterns on in the comfort of their living rooms.

In the game, players take on the roles of Traitors and Faithfuls. They even carry out Missions to build up a ‘prize pot’.

Sounds good, right?

Well, unfortunately, fans who have played The Traitors Board Game have pointed out one massive problem with it.

Read on to find out why it might not be all it’s cracked up to be…

The Traitors Board Game: How does it work?

The Traitors Board Game can be played by four to six players. It is aimed at people age 12 years and over.

Each player receives a blindfold at the start of the game. They also need a voting sheet, stand, one gold bar, three gold pieces, and a gameplay overview card.

The game also requires everyone to have a pencil and paper, although this is not supplied. *Eye roll*!

One player will take on the role of Traitor while the remaining players are Faithfuls.

There are missions to carry out and, if successful, gold will be added to the prize pot. The Traitor is also required to carry out their secret mission during the main mission, too.

There are Round Tables during the game, although no one leaves.

Players vote for who they think is the Traitor by writing a name down on their paper. The person with the most votes is banished, although this only means they have to return 2 gold pieces to the bank.

Murders take place while everyone is wearing a blindfold. According to Vivid Toys and Games players need to: “Play some music or players can bang their hands on the table to create a distraction.

“The Traitor points the dagger at the player they wish to murder. This can include themselves.”

Err, okay?!

Like in the TV show, the last remaining Faithfuls or Traitor can win the prize pot, depending if the Traitor was rumbled.

Complaints over board game

While overall The Traitors Board Game has fairly decent reviews, there seems to be one big complaint about it.

Fans of the show who have tried the game are all saying the same thing – that it can only be played six times in total with the same people.

This is due to the limited number of mission cards. Missions include trivia and team challenges, but competing them will reveal all answers and the secret tasks set for the Traitor.

One review on Amazon reads: “The only slightly disappointing element is once you’ve played this game 6 times, you’ll not be able to play again as you’ll know what’s going on as you progress through the rounds.. Hopefully they will release new mission cards to add to it at a later date.”

Another Traitors fan added: “The main problem is that there are only 6 adventure packs. Once you play all 6, you won’t be able to really play the game anymore. You already know how they should be completed.

“Hopefully they will add new adventure packs that you can purchase in separate bundles, to further increase options for playing the game again. It is an absolute MUST otherwise the game is an experience that once done you won’t be able to play it again.”

‘Do better!’

Someone else bought The Traitors Board Game for their 12-year-old grandson. They also complained: “He played the game with his parents and siblings and they all thoroughly enjoyed it.

“HOWEVER that enjoyment was significantly reduced once they realised the game can only be played SIX times. After the six adventure / mission packs have been played once any future attempt to play it is not possible as the players know the key item that identifies the Traitor.

“Come on Goliath / BBC this is not good enough – we now have a grandson who wants to play the game again but each time knows it is one closer to the last time he can play it.”

The Traitors Board Game is priced at around £20, so it won’t break the bank.

But if you think it will be coming out every Christmas for the next 20 years, then think again!
