Netflix just dropped the 'straight version' of Heated Rivalry and everyone has the same complaint
Netflix put a great show on ice back in 2020, and fans still aren't happyFinding Her Edge combines ice skating and romance on Netflix, but the show has made some viewers a little angry about another series the streamer cancelled a few years ago.
Netflix drops that much content each month that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of what’s coming and going. However, the latest new Netflix series has caught the attention of a very specific sub-genre of drama fans.
The enemies-to-lovers trope is strong at the moment, largely thanks to the huge popularity of Heated Rivalry.
Now, Netflix is bringing its strongest soap opera vibes with Finding Her Edge. It’s already been branded ‘the straight version’ of the steamy sports drama, but it also looks exceedingly cheesy and bingeable.

What is Finding Her Edge on Netflix?
Finding Her Edge is an eight-part romantic teen drama focusing on Adriana, as she contends with her family’s legacy as a figure skating dynasty.
At the heart of the show, though, is a tantalising love triangle. Adriana partners with a skater called Brayden, largely for sponsorship purposes. But, she’s still besotted with her ex-boyfriend, Freddie.
Much like the 2023 Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell movie, Anyone But You, a fake romance is conceived in the hopes of making Freddie jealous.
The problem is, there’s plenty of tension between Adriana and her partner. If they can’t get along off the ice, how will they succeed on it? And will this relationship be enough to convince Freddie that he and Adriana should be together?
Well, you’ll simply have to watch the show and find out. Still, we’d be surprised if there wasn’t a fairytale ending to all of this.

Spinning Out should ‘never have been cancelled’
There’s nothing wrong with a predictable and pleasant romance-fuelled series. Finding Her Edge looks like the ideal light watch for anyone who wants more after Heated Rivalry.
However, it also looks far too similar to another Netflix series: Spinning Out.
That 2020 show starred Skins alumni Kaya Scodelario as Kat and Evan Roderick as her skating partner, Justin. Spinning Out ran for just one season but was fairly popular, with a score of 7.5 out of 10 on IMDb.
However, Netflix decided to axe it after just 10 episodes due to low viewership records.
The people who did watch it felt very passionately about the story, though. Indeed, fans were left frustrated by the cliffhanger ending. Now, they’re not happy that Netflix is retreading familiar territory with Finding Her Edge.
In the comments section on YouTube, one user wrote: “So why cancel Spinning Out (which was a fantastic show) to make one that looks exactly like the other show?”
Another said: “This is basically Spinning Out that Netflix will cancel after one season.”
A third simply replied, “I want Spinning Out back,” with a teary emoji to boot.
Still, if you have a Spinning Out-shaped hole in your life, hopefully Finding Her Edge can be the solution you’ve been looking for.
