Gogglebox favourites Sue and Steve Sheehan may not have been on the show since it started, but they’ve more than made their mark!

The married couple, from south-east London, joined the show in 2019, after being spotted by producers while on holiday in Dubai.

Famed for her outspoken nature and his deadpan reactions as we watch them watch the TV, they have fast become one of our favourite couples on the show…

Who are Gogglebox legends Steve and Sue?

Parents to two daughters – Leah and Kate – Steve is a retired black cab driver, while Sue works part-time. They’ve been married for 47 years, with Sue recently sharing a throwback photo of themselves in the 1980s, and on their wedding day.

The pair have two grandchildren – Roman and Alba. Sue shared the flowers and cards her kids and grandkids got her for Mother’s Day earlier this year. Doting grandmother Sue often shares insights into family life on the Instagram account she shares with Steve.

And, when they’re not watching TV, Sue and Steve love to travel and have shared photos from their favourite destinations, including Dubai, which they affectionately call their “favourite place”.

Bell’s Palsy diagnosis

In December 2024, Sue shared a health update, after Gogglebox viewers noticed a change in her appearance.

Following an extended absence from the show, Sue announced she had Bell’s Palsy, which causes temporary weakness or paralysis in the muscles on one side of the face.

When she returned to the show, Sue revealed that she’d to “relearn” a few skills, noting: “One is to speak through the side of my mouth, and the other one is chewing. Chewing takes a long time.”

Steve quipped: “I have offered to chew your food for you, but you declined. I’ve got to say, you haven’t lost the sharp side of your tongue though, have you?”

“No, it’s sharper than ever actually,” Sue responded.

Gogglebox’s Sue makes fun of ‘big boy’ Steve

Earlier this week, Channel 4 uploaded a video of the pair, with Steve hilariously waved off by his wife Sue as he headed towards the train station.

In an Instagram video, she jokingly asked him if he’d remembered everything he needed for his big trip. Pointing her phone camera at her husband, Sue could be heard saying: “Right Steve, bye! Be careful on the train! You got your ticket?”

As the questions kept coming, he played along by checking his pockets. “You got your phone? Got your keys?” Sue continued.

“Don’t talk to any strangers, be careful! Because you’re not used to go going into London…” she went on to quip, to ex-London taxi driver Steve. Deadpan, Steve replied: “I’m gonna be a big boy and do it all by myself!”

Over in the comments section of the Insta clip, Gogglebox lovers joined in on the fun.

“Let us know when he gets home,” wrote one person, followed by several laughing emojis. “Ah bless you both love your humour,” said another. “Put a tracker on his phone,” another told Sue, to which she replied: “Good idea! Or sew his name and address into his clothes!”

“He will be okay Sue, don’t worry!” Gogglebox co-stars Dave and Shirley commented.
