Why is Grantchester not on tonight?
Grantchester has been pulled from the schedules tonight in favour of Ben Shephard’s new reality show The Summit.
The Summit kicked off on Tuesday night with episode 1, and continues tonight with episode 2. In fact, the series will continue on Tuesdays and Wednesday throughout its eight episode run.
Why ITV knocked Grantchester off its usual primetime slot, we can’t tell you. TVGuide.co.uk has contacted ITV for a response. We await a response.
We don’t blame fans for being fed up. Not only has series 10 moved around in the schedules, but it’s also been axed full stop. Series 11, set to air in 2027, will be the last.
This year, the series started on Wednesday and Thursday (January 07 and 09), before moving back to just Wednesdays. Since then we’ve had an episode once a week – on a Wednesday. The new schedule change will affect the final two episodes of the season.

Grantchester series 10 comes to an end on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 9pm on ITV. Yep, it’s Thursday again.
In the finale episode, Alphy and Geordie realise they miss each other and stop sulking… Geordie subsequently invites Alphy to meet Wilbur Church, a fascist who has been invited to speak at the student union. There have been attempts on Wilbur’s life wherever he goes, but it is Wilbur Church’s wife who opens a parcel bomb addressed to him…
Fans react to the reason Grantchester is not on tonight
One fan lamented the schedule change, writing on X: “Wednesday nights are good because #Grantchester is on.”
Another confused viewer, talking about the first two episodes, wrote: “Sorry, why did nobody inform me that episode 2 of #Grantchester was on last Thursday? I thought it was weekly.”
