Those Traitors don't know what's about to hit them

Traitors star Harriet Tyce has been keeping another massive secret while in Ardross Castle – that her father is very famous.

The crime writer has been keeping tight-lipped about her barrister background and now this new revelation has come to light.

Harriet is also the daughter of a very well-known and prestigious name in the world of law.

And given that she has pretty much got the Traitors bang to rights, it explains a lot.

The Traitors: Harriet Tyce’s famous father

TVGuide can reveal that Harriet’s father is The Right Honourable Lord Nimmo Smith.

William Nimmo Smith, which is his full name, is now retired but he held some pretty important jobs during his impressive career.

He was inducted into the House of Lords by former Prime Minister John Major and, quite frankly, his CV would put 99 per cent of the nation to shame.

Not only is Lord Nimmo Smith former Senator for the Collage of Justice, he was a judge of the Supreme Courts of Scotland. Harriet’s dad sat in the High Court of Justiciary and the Inner House of the Court of Session, too.

Wowzers.

It is no shock to learn that Lord Nimmo Smith went to school at the prestigious Eton College. He went on to study Classics at Oxford University, before training in Law at the University of Edinburgh.

Lord Nimmo Smith is now 83 years old and retired. He had two children with his wife Jennifer Main, Harriet and her brother Christopher, and is believed to live in Edinburgh.

The Traitors’ Harriet hides legal background

Harriet has been hiding her own legal background while competing in The Traitors. She is keen to keep it a secret in case it changes her fellow competitors’ perception of her.

Like her dad, Harriet also studied at Oxford University. She completed a degree in English literature before doing a law conversion course.

Harriet worked as a practising barrister for 10 years but gave it up following the birth of her son. She then moved into creative writing and is now a successful crime novelist.

Her legal skills are already coming into practice on The Traitors, however. She was able to sniff out that Hugo Lodge was a Traitor and used his own legal profession to strategically target him. He was banished just days into the game.

Ahead of going into the BBC show, she said: “I might be good because of my criminal barrister training at picking up on inconsistencies in what people say.

Harriet speaks to The Traitors

Harriet is certainly astute – and now we know exactly why.

She has already rumbled Hugo, sussed out Traitor Rachel Duffy and is keeping her eyes peeled when in Stephen Libby’s presence (also a Traitor).

Tonight, Harriet will be speaking directly to The Traitors following last week’s successful Mission. Both she and Matty Hyndman have been given the chance to ask them questions from behind a screen.

Matty has already made his offer – murder Jessie Stride next and seduce him into the Traitor fold.

But what Harriet has to say remains to be seen. And quite honestly, we are rather looking forward to finding out!
