Forget Run Away, His and Hers is a new 'steamy' Netflix thriller with one of the most bonkers twists ever
You won't see the twist coming in His and Hers
His and Hers has flown up the Netflix chart, falling only second to Run Away. If you thought Harlan Coben’s series was good, you’re not prepared for this new show’s twist.
As expected, Coben’s latest Netflix thriller has been enormously popular. The Stranger Things finale may have dominated New Year’s Day, but it’s held the streaming platform’s top spot for the past week.
However, that could be about to change. His and Hers, a new thriller with Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal, is currently at number two, and it’s positioned to be on people’s binge-watch lists going into the weekend.
So, if you’re weighing up whether or not to press play, this is what you should know before diving in.

What is His and Hers about?
His and Hers, based on Alice Feeney’s 2020 novel, is a mystery thriller centring on two exes: Anna and Jack, who both become each other’s suspects in a murder.
“Set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, Anna lives in haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a news anchor,” the official synopsis reads.
“But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – Anna is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers.”
This is where her ex Jack – who’s also a detective – comes in. He chases “her into the crosshairs of his own investigation… there are two sides to every story, which means someone is always lying”.
Feene is a British author who worked for the BBC as a journalist before becoming a novelist. She came up with the idea for the story seven years ago.
“When I think about the journey this story has been on, from having the idea, to writing it in my shed, to seeing it published all over the world, and now seeing the characters come to life on screen, it feels nothing less than magic,” she told Netflix.

Viewers react to show’s “wild twist”
Don’t worry, we’re not going to spoil what goes down in His and Hers. All you need to know is that neither Thompson or Bernthal saw it coming when they received the script, and you’ll need to pay attention really closely to see the clues.
Since finishing it, viewers have taken to social media to hail the series – and praise how it ends.
“Just finished watching His/Hers on Netflix. Nothing will prepare you for the plot twist at the end, 10/10,” one viewer wrote on X.

“Binged His and Hers yesterday and wow. The twist at the end was wild! I respect it,” another commented. “The PLOT twist of His & Hers had me on the floor! BRILLIANT,” a third posted.
The hype about the series is clearly catching on, as some viewers have even pivoted away from Run Away for His and Hers.
“I’m up to episode 4 and loving it. Glad I switched out from Run Away ep 1 to this,” one fan wrote.

Who’s in the His and Hers cast?
His and Hers is led by Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal.
For Marvel fans, neither star requires an introduction. Thompson plays Valkyrie, while Bernthal portrays Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (who will return in his own Disney Plus special this year).
Outside of comic book movies, Thompson has appeared in the likes of Creed, Annihilation, and Westworld. Bernthal rose to fame thanks to The Walking Dead, and he’s gone on to star in Sicario, The Accountant, and The Bear.
In an interview with Blavity, Bernthal and Thompson spoke about how their real-life connection helped strengthen their performances and enrich Jack and Anna’s dynamic.
“I think we approach things in enormously similar ways – and also very different ways as well,” he explained.
“But right from the beginning, I felt very welcomed and respected and heard, and I hope Tessa felt the same way.”
Thompson believes they had “some past energy… like, when I met you for the first time, it didn’t feel like I had only met you for the first time”.
