Producers 'bend rules' for I'm A Celebrity star Angry Ginge as he's given phone call home
We're not sure this would go down well with his camp co-stars...
I’m A Celebrity camper Angry Ginge was allowed a phone call home, it’s been revealed, after the celebrities landed in Australia and had their mobiles confiscated.
Last night’s (November 16) opening episode saw the Twitch streamer join Jack Osbourne, Aitch and Eddie Kadi in luxury. They’d each finished first or second-fastest in their challenges, leading to heavenly mattresses and a steak dinner upon their arrival in the jungle.
But according to Angry Ginge’s mum, the star – real name Morgan Burtwistle – had been afforded another special dispensation by this point.
Speaking to The Mirror, Michelle Burtwistle revealed that a producer let her son ring her on his 24th birthday as he waited for filming to start.

I’m A Celebrity 2025: Angry Ginge’s phone call home
The I’m A Celebrity cast are usually not allowed their phones once they touch down in Australia. This is to protect the integrity of the series and immerse the campmates in the isolating experience.
Bosses did allow birthday boy Angry Ginge a sneaky phone call home on November 13, though. This was after they’d already modified this year’s Bushtucker Trial voting system.
“Morgan managed to ring me via the producer’s phone because he was allowed a quick phone call for his birthday, and he sounded absolutely buzzing,” Michelle shared. “He told me he’s been watching SAS: Who Dares Wins to get himself mentally ready for the jungle, which is so him.”
Apparently, the star’s first thought was to enquire about how his nan and sister were doing back home.
“I made sure he knows his family and friends all send their love, and that everyone back home is right behind him. He sounded happy, grounded and genuinely excited for what’s ahead. I told him ‘I love you’ and he said love you too. It was one of those proper lump-in-the-throat moments.”
Angry Ginge visited a koala bear sanctuary
As well as watching old episodes of SAS: Who Dares Wins, Angry Ginge made sure to leave his hotel room to explore the sights.
Michelle said that her animal-loving lad was “grinning ear to ear” after paying a visit to a koala sanctuary. Although it’s unclear exactly which establishment this was, the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on the Gold Coast, Queensland is likely.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is 35km away from Murwillumbah, which is near the I’m A Celebrity hotel, JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa.

Ruby Wax’s rudeness to Angry Ginge
As the show’s first episode broadcast over the weekend, fellow campmate Ruby Wax was noticeably rude to Angry Ginge. She repeatedly told him that he was “standing in her light”. As a result, fans writing on social media weren’t too impressed.
While the entertainment veteran might’ve been playing around, it was still a bit awkward.
“Honestly, I couldn’t tell if Ruby was serious about telling ginge to move out of the way. But either way, she is going to be a problem, I can already tell. She’s arrogant and rude so far,” one X user wrote. “Not Ruby being rude to Ginge. We will not stand for it,” echoed another.
“Ruby is coming across really rude,” a third suggested.
