Beverley Callard became the fourth campmate to leave I’m A Celebrity South Africa in tonight’s (April 21) episode.

Last night (April 20), David Haye and Gemma Collins exited the show in a shock double elimination. Meanwhile, comedian Seann Walsh became the first to be voted off by Harry Redknapp last week.

However, soon into Tuesday’s episode, Corrie legend Beverley was forced to leave on medical grounds. The series, which was recorded last September, saw her tell her fellow campmates that she woke up feeling unwell and that doctors had advised she couldn’t stay.

As she returned to camp after walking out for a few moments, Beverley revealed she had no choice but to leave the show.

Breaking down in tears, she said: “I didn’t feel very well this morning, I had a bit of a funny turn. They said I can’t come back in, I’ve got to come home. I’ve got to come out.”

Expressing that she didn’t want to leave, her fellow campmates supported her and insisted she needed to put her health first.

“I’m absolutely gutted,” she added. “I wanted to prove that older women could do it.”

The camp assured her that she already had after jumping out of a plane and doing numerous trials.

Earlier this year, Beverley announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. After undergoing surgery to remove lymph nodes, she explained that the surgery itself “went really well” and that doctors were able to “cut the cancer out”. But, she also confirmed that cancer cells were found in one of her lymph nodes.

Beverley added that the next step is to send the sample to America to assess how aggressive the cancer is, with results expected in around two weeks.
