I'm A Celebrity 2025: Ruby Wax called out over 'annoying' and 'selfish' behaviour after becoming camp leader

Has the power gone to her head?

Ruby Wax’s big promotion to camp leader in the latest episode of I’m A Celebrity should’ve been her moment – but viewers were anything but convinced.

The comedian swept the public vote, taking over from Shona McGarty after she was rumbled with contraband for a second time. And Ruby wasted no time setting out her stall, warning the camp that “things are about to change” and cheekily announcing: “No more Mrs Nice Guy!”

But judging by the reaction at home, many weren’t exactly thrilled with the new regime.

Ruby Wax assumes role of camp leader

Wax donned a hastily-made crown and veil and, immediately, started throwing her weight around. She demanded that Shona should be her footstool, Aitch should be her jester of sorts, and that Angry Ginge should be her own personal dancer. She also demanded Shona go into isolation in the telephone box.

Jack Osbourne was unimpressed by this new regime, saying: “Ruby as leader, pure insanity. The craziest dictatorship I think the world will ever know.”

Jack then went on to plan a coup with Aitch and Ginge. “We are making a stand versus them,” Ginge said. “I’ve got a lot of things on my chest that need to come off,” Aitch added, while Jack declared: “Viva la revolution!”

Viewers react to ‘entitled’ Ruby Wax

From the start, viewers have been unsure about Ruby, but she soon won them over when she did her first Bushtucker Trial. Since then, she’s been a fan favourite. However, based on some viewers’ latest commentary, that might not be the case anymore.

For many viewers, Wax’s perceived laziness and ‘digs’ have been an issue for a while. But becoming camp leader seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

“Ruby complaining about the length of time food takes to cook when she does sweet FA,” one complained. A second added that she was “a pain and very entitled”.

“Ruby, your little digs are annoying me tonight!” a third wrote.

A fourth continued: “Ruby’s funny, but she is so selfish and has had it the most easiest in camp. She thinks she can get away with it because she’s Ruby Wax and that the others can have it harder, but when they do something wrong, they’re called out for it. She should be too.”

But many came to her defense giving her age of 72.

One wrote: “She’s been a trooper. She’s obviously been flagging over the last few days. But she’s not moaned one bit. Good on her, she gets a half decent bed and a personal loo for a day or two. Hope it helps her get to the end.”

While another compared her to another I’m A Celebrity legend – Lady C!

And a third pointed out she’s doing the trial tonight – so really, she is pulling her weight.

Why exactly was Shona ousted as camp leader?

Last night’s episode delivered more drama than anyone bargained for, with Shona briefly stepping into power before it all came crashing down. She took over the top job from Aitch and Angry Ginge and immediately installed fellow soap favourite Lisa Riley as her deputy – but the celebration didn’t last long.

Trouble started brewing when Shona admitted she’d stumbled across a rogue pat of butter in the food trunk. “I don’t know where it came from,” she confessed in the Bush Telegraph. “But I saw it, my eyes lit up and I used it.”

Facing her campmates, she pleaded: “Please don’t hate me.” She insisted she wasn’t to blame for its appearance, but held her hands up for making the most of it.

Her honesty cost her the crown, though, and her short-lived leadership ended almost as quickly as it began. That left the rest of the camp bracing themselves as the Wax regime took hold.
