Inside Carl and Clemmie’s stories in Emmerdale – from tough childhoods to their on-screen ages
Carl and Clemmie are in big troubleEmmerdale has aired scenes in which Carl Holliday and Clemmie Reed have been visited by the police over the sharing of indecent images.
Clemmie took a photo of herself and sent it to Carl. He then shared it with his mates, who forwarded it on to others. As they are both minors, the police are taking the incident very seriously indeed.
With the investigation set to go further next week, it sends shockwaves through the families. Nicola is at a loss as to how to protect her kids online and Dawn is devastated when Clemmie admits why she did it in the first place.
Given they are such a young age, the whole thing feels particularly shocking. So how old are Clemmie and Carl? And how have their backgrounds shaped who they are today?
Who play Carl and Clemmie in Emmerdale and how old are they?
Carl is played by Charlie Joyce who took over the role from Dexter Ansell in 2016. Charlie is 11 years old, the same as his alter ego, Carl.
In fact, their birthdays are just days apart, with Carl being born on October 7 and Charlie on October 9 2014.
Meanwhile, Clemmie is played by Mabel Addison. She is 12 years old. Clemmie is just 10 as she was born on July 12 2015.

Who are Carl Holliday’s parents in Emmerdale?
Despite being Jimmy King’s son, Carl is actually a Holliday. His mum is Juliette Holliday and Carl was born after a mix-up at a fertility clinic.
Juliette had been impregnated with Jimmy’s sperm instead of her chosen donor’s. She arrived in Emmerdale in 2014 asking Jimmy to sign paperwork to waive his rights to the unborn child. But then she went into labour at Jimmy’s and gave birth to a baby boy assisted by Nicola.
Juliette named their son Carl, having no idea it was the same name as one of Jimmy’s dead brothers.
Jimmy was granted access to baby Carl, but then Juliette’s estranged husband Greg came back to her and wanted to be a family. Juliette told Jimmy he could have no more contact and left town.
However Juliette returned in 2015 after Greg left her. She left Carl with Jimmy and wasn’t seen again until 2021 when she wanted Carl back.
She sabotaged the Kings’ business and even hired a private investigator to get what she wanted. But then abruptly decided she was moving to New York with her new man who didn’t like kids.

Clemmie Reed and her troubled upbringing
Clemmie was born to Beth Reed, a drug-addicted prostitute. She was raised by her grandmother when she was born as her mum couldn’t cope. But when she died, Clemmie went back to Beth.
Beth later died of an overdose and after her funeral, Beth’s best friend, Dawn, found Clemmie sleeping in a dog bed.
She further discovered Clemmie was the half-sister of her own son, Lucas, as they shared the same father. Dawn and then-husband Billy took Clemmie to live with them and have since adopted her.
When Clemmie opens up next week about why she sent the picture to Carl, it leaves Dawn feeling awful. Can she find a way to protect her daughter and be honest about her own past too?
