Jeopardy has reportedly been axed by ITV after two series and fans are not best pleased about it…

The British version of the American game show first aired on ITV in 2024. Hosted by Stephen Fry, it quickly became a hit with fans.

Jeopardy’s last series aired in 2025 but fans hoping for a new series might be disappointed as it’s been claimed that the show is not coming back to screens.

ITV ‘axes’ Jeopardy after two series

Jeopardy! has been around for decades. The show first launched on NBC in 1964 and has been running pretty much consistently ever since on US TV.

The show is different from usual quiz shows, as it sees a contestant given clues to a question in the form of an answer. They must identify the person, place, thing, or idea that the clue describes, by phrasing it in the form of a question.

In 1983, a UK edition launched on Channel 4, before coming to an end in 1984. Between 1990 and 1993 it aired on ITV, before being cancelled.

Between 1995 and 1996, it aired on Sky One, before, again, being cancelled. It was then brought back in 2024 with Stephen Fry at the helm.

Fans declare ‘such a shame’

However, after two series it has now been reported that Jeopardy is not coming back to screens. As TVZone reports the programme has been axed and there are currently no plans for a third series.

Reacting to Jeopardy’s reported axe, fans have shared their disappointment. On X, one person said: “Gutted, it was something different, but was too slow, and then there’s that new 7:30 slot which would have been perfect for a series 3. Guess we prefer opening red boxes and slot machines.”

Don’t axe it keep it on

Another declared: “Don’t axe it keep it on.” A third chimed in: “That’s a shame. The second series was such an improvement too.”

Someone else mused: “Enjoyed the reboot. Such a shame one of the longest running quiz shows in the world fails to become a success in the UK. I remembered one of the previous reboots in the 9:25am slot in the 90s hosted by Steve Jones and enjoyed that too.”

TV Guide has contacted ITV for comment.

When Jeopardy was brought back in 2024 it did come in for criticism from viewers. Some complained that Stephen wasn’t right to front the series.

One said: “I had so looked forward to Jeopardy! coming to our shores. But as much as I’m a fan of Stephen Fry, am just not sure he’s the right guy for it.”

Another added: “Love Stephen Fry but really not liking Jeopardy!. Will it last longer than one series?”
