Jesy Nelson makes 'completely honest' admission as trailer for her Amazon Prime docu-series drops

'I’m ready to tell my side of the story'

Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix lands on Amazon Prime on February 13 – and the former Little Mix star has now shared a powerful first look at the deeply personal documentary.

The new docu-series follows Jesy’s life after leaving the band, but its focus quickly shifts to her harrowing journey into motherhood. The singer, 36, endured a high-risk twin pregnancy, spending months in hospital before giving birth prematurely to daughters Ocean and Story.

The newly released trailer shows raw and emotional footage of Jesy in hospital, hooked up to machines, as she undergoes what appears to be an emergency caesarean section. The twins’ father, Zion Foster – who Jesy has reportedly split from – also appears in the documentary.

Since filming wrapped, the twins have been diagnosed with SMA, a rare genetic condition that affects muscle development and may mean they never walk.

Jesy Nelson shares emotional first look

Sharing the trailer on Instagram, Jesy explained why she decided to let cameras follow such an intimate chapter of her life.

“Isn’t it crazy how the universe works, and how it’s all divine timing?” she wrote. “Last year, I decided that when I fell pregnant, I wanted to document everything. I wanted to let cameras into my life and my home, and film what I thought was going to be a really exciting, fun little experience into motherhood.”

She continued: “But little did I know the journey I was about to embark on. From being told I was having twins, to then finding out I had TTTS… to then living in hospital for three months, having my babies early, and being on the neonatal ward for over a month.”

Jesy added that bringing the girls home “felt like a dream, like we were finally out of the trenches”.

‘Too emotional to watch right now’

Jesy admitted she has only watched the series once.

“I’ll be completely honest… I’ve only ever watched this series once because it’s genuinely too emotional for me to watch right now,” she said. “But when I did watch it, I saw everything through a completely different lens, now knowing what I know about my girls and their diagnosis.”

She added that the documentary captures her daughters’ strength and resilience, saying she hopes one day it will inspire them if they ever doubt themselves.

“There may well come a time when my beautiful girls turn to me and say: ‘Mummy, I don’t think I can do that.’ And if that day ever comes, I’ll sit them down and show them this footage.”

Inside Life After Little Mix

Alongside her pregnancy journey, the documentary revisits Jesy’s time in Little Mix. Clips show her struggling during rehearsals and breaking down in tears, as she reflects on the pressures of fame.

“I’ve really struggled keeping all of this in… now I’m ready to tell my side of the story,” Jesy says in a voiceover.

Her X Factor Tulisa Contostavlos also appears, commenting: “When you want something so bad, you’re always blind to the negatives.”

Some of the most harrowing moments show Jesy crying during her three-month hospital stay and scenes from the operating theatre as doctors deliver her premature babies.
