Lorraine Kelly said an emotional goodbye on her ITV daytime show today (January 22) as another familiar face bowed out of the programme.

Celebrity Race Across the World star Tyler West, a regular entertainment reporter on Lorraine, appeared on the sofa as usual to deliver the day’s showbiz news. But it quickly became clear that this appearance would be his last, with Lorraine confirming he’s heading off to a major new role.

Tyler’s exit comes amid ongoing changes to ITV’s daytime line-up, with several well-known contributors already departing the show over the past year.

Tyler West leaves Lorraine

After Tyler wrapped up his segment, Lorraine shared the news with viewers.

“Look, we have to say goodbye to you because you are off to do an amazing show,” she said. “You’re going to be doing the Kiss FM Breakfast Show. Which means that we can’t have you on.”

Clearly gutted, Lorraine added: “I can’t bear it. It’s just awful because we will miss you so, so much. But we wish you all the best. You’re going to smash it. Kiss FM are very lucky to have you.”

Tyler reassured her that it wasn’t goodbye forever, replying: “I’ll be back. I love you, Lorraine. I really appreciate that.”

Tyler currently presents Kiss FM’s weekday afternoon slot, but he’s now taking over breakfast duties from Diversity’s Perri Kiely and Jordan Banjo. The new show airs from 6am to 10am, clashing with his role on Lorraine.

A growing list of Lorraine departures

Tyler is the latest in a string of departures following ITV’s daytime shake-up. Last year, after the show’s runtime was reduced from an hour to just 30 minutes, Dr Hilary Jones announced he would be stepping down as the programme’s resident GP, although he said he would still return as a guest from time to time.

Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh have also lost their regular presenting slots. Both previously covered for Lorraine on Fridays and during school holidays, but the show now only airs during term time, with Lorraine hosting all editions. As a result, Christine said goodbye to her regular role before Christmas.

There have even been claims that Lorraine Kelly herself could walk away from the show once her current contract comes to an end.

ITV confirmed sweeping changes to its daytime schedules last May, with Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women all impacted.
