Love Is Blind's Alex Henderson unrecognisable in throwback photo from university soccer days
The ex footballer had us doing a double takeLove Is Blind‘s Alex Henderson sent Ashley Carpenter’s heart racing when she saw him for the first time – but he is unrecognisable to how he looked at university.
Alex is one half of seven new couples in season 10 of the Netflix show and is heading towards a wedding with Ashley.
The 31-year-old now works in finance but, at university, he was an avid footballer (or soccer player, as they call it Stateside).
TVGuide can now reveal what Alex looked like when he was playing for his university team.
And he has certainly left us doing a double take!

Back when Alex was at uni (again, ‘college’ for the American’s among us), he had his sights set on a professional football career.
At the time, he was called Alec Ferrell. His name was legally changed when he was two at the request of his stepdad, although he has since changed it back to Alex Henderson.
He played in goal for Wake Forest University in North Carolina and was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Midseason Top 100 in the Nation list, landing in at number 51.
In his team headshot, obtained by TVGuide, Alex has a moustache, fluffier hair and is sporting his bright yellow strip.
We honestly didn’t even recognise him – and it appears we aren’t the only ones. Alex’s soccer profile has been shared on Reddit by Love Is Blind fans, too, and many have also done a double take.
One viewer said: “He did not look at that on the show – whoa!” Another added: “Alec Ferrell looks like a Super Troopers outtake.”
Alex later, but briefly, moved on to bigger things.
In the US, top university players can enter professional drafts. This follows the way NFL and other leagues recruit college athletes.
Minnesota United FC (MUFC) drafted him in as a goalkeeper for the 2016/ 2017 season. But sadly, it was short-lived.
Alex had to quit football after suffering a bad knee injury, which required multiple surgeries.
Alex Henderson divides Love Is Blind fans
Love Is Blind stars have been left divided by Alex and his very confident demeanour on the show.
He has spoken a lot about his footballing past and slated David Beckham as being “not even that good”.
Alex has also boasted about the “athletic shell” he has been handed, referring to his body. He told his bride-to-be Ashley: “I understand this is just a shell. And yes, I’ve been blessed with a very good one to chase athletic dreams and accomplish most of them.
“I do hear from other people that it’s a very good shell.”
Writing on Reddit, one Netflix viewer said: “The way he talked about his ‘shell’ gave me an insurmountable ick but Ashley seems like a perfect match for him.”
Another added: “When he called Tim Howard weird and described Beckham as being a not so good soccer player. That was crazy work lol.”
However a third penned: “I heard he was killer at soccer too. And Wake Forest is legit top tier.”
