Devo, 32, had already moved into the Men’s Quarters and begun shooting the series when he was hit with the sad news.
Producers had to break it to the loan officer that his grandad had died.

Devo was given the option to leave the show but, in a surprise move, decided to stay.
Love Is Blind’s Devo hit with family death
The new series of Love Is Blind, season 10, has just dropped onto Netflix. The first six episodes of the dating show, hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey have landed, with the remaining six coming next week.
Devo opens up about the death of his grandfather in episode three, while chatting to potential fiancée Brittany Wicker. The pair are in the pod together as a new day of blind dating begins.
Brittany, a nurse, asks Devo how he is. He replies: “I’m doing well. Thank you for asking. I know it’s early but I am feeling stuff.
“I want my wife to know the most about me walking out of this.”
The pair then share a joke about Devo’s voice sounding “nerdy”. They also laugh about Devo doing ‘the worm’ down the aisle if they make it to getting married.
But then the mood changes and things become more serious.
Devo says he will work his utmost to make his marriage work, adding: “Imagine if our grandparents gave up on some of the stuff you hear people give up on in today’s world.
“We wouldn’t even exist had our parents and grandparents not gone through the hard times together.”
He then says: “I do want to share something a little personal with you.”

‘I have every right to be gone’
Brittany sits up as Devo continues: “I got pulled out by production and my grandfather… passed away.”
Looking sad, 30-year-old Brittany tells him through the screen: “I’m so sorry.”
He continues: “If I stay here, it’s important to me that I’m here for the right reasons. Because I have every reason to be gone right now.”
Brittany assures Devo: “I understand if at any point you’re like, ‘Emotionally I need to step away’. Or you just want to be with your family. I completely get that.”
Devo tells Brittany that he had spoken to both his brother and his grandmother after receiving the sad news. He said they both gave their blessings for him to stay in Love Is Blind.
“They both said to me that this is what my grandfather would want,” he explained. “I want to continue on and, you know, hopefully I find my life-long partner like my grandparents did.
“I wouldn’t be here unless I was completely ready.”
Brittany smiled at hearing Devo wouldn’t be leaving the show.
