MAFS Australia‘s Tyson Gordon is tonight shot down by Mel Schilling for his use of the word “submissive”, with fans branding him “dumb”.

Tyson is taken to task by Mel, who tragically died from cancer last month, in the latest commitment ceremony.

Sitting next to his new wife Stephanie, Tyson complains that she “offends him” by the way she speaks to him.

He accuses Stephanie of being “too masculine” and complains that she isn’t “submissive”, which he claims he asked for in a wife.

“She’s definitely not the submissive type, that’s for sure,” Tyson says.

“When someone is constantly in your face trying to challenge you, it’s not submissive. It’s very masculine in my eyes.”

But Mel is having none of it.

Mel tells him: “You’re talking about quite a traditional, feminine role. That’s one thing. But you’re using another word to describe this ideal partner that I think is a bit concerning.

“You’re using the word ‘submissive’. When you’re saying to Steph, ‘I want a submissive woman’, you’re saying, ‘I want to be with someone who will lie down, give up their rights, not try to have their needs met and will make the relationship all about you and your needs’.”

Tyson replies: “I’m not saying that.” Mel tells him: “Well, you are.”

He shoots back: “I’m not.” Keeping incredibly calm, Mel repeats: “You actually are saying that. You are using the word submissive.”

Stuttering, Tyson says: “Maybe I’m using the word submissive wrong.”

Mel warns him: “Language matters. And when you’re talking about what you want in a relationship and using ‘submissive’, words have meaning.”

Rather than accept what Mel is saying, Tyson attempts to argue back. But it doesn’t go well for him.

‘You are not superior to Steph’

Tyson asks Mel: “What would you call it if I didn’t want someone so challenging and dominant? What word would you use?”

Mel asks him: “Are you saying you want to be with someone who doesn’t challenge you in a relationship?”

Tyson replies “essentially”, as the entire room looks on in shock. Mel asks why he doesn’t want to be challenged and Tyson moans that it “creates conflict”.

“Part of having an interpersonal relationship is challenging each other,” she tells him. “It’s disagreeing and being able to debate and have a conversation.”

In a final warning, Mel says to Tyson: “More importantly, you’re not superior to Steph. You’re behaving as though you are.

“You’re behaving as though you should not be challenged and you’re the only one who should challenge her.”

MAFS Australia fans react to Mel’s Tyson takedown

Tonight’s scenes have already aired in Australia – and fans couldn’t hold back on their thoughts.

Writing on Reddit, one said: “Seems likely to me that Tyson is just a bit dumb and doesn’t even know what he is saying. Just mindlessly repeating stuff he has seen online in the Manosphere.”

Referring to Tyson’s so-called beliefs, another added: “Really, if anyone believes that bull[shit] they’re either dumb or insecure (probably both). But, yeah, he does seem particularly dim.”

Over on X, Mel was applauded for her takedown of Tyson.

One fan posted a picture of Mel and wrote: “Guys, I’m crying hahahahaha. Tyson is [bleep-ing] fuming that a woman is talking down to him.”

Another simply concluded: “Tyson definitely has subscribed to HSTikkyTokky and Andrew Tate and can’t stop saying the word submissive.”
