Masked Singer fans call for ‘less cryptic’ clues as show is 'more difficult' than usual
Fans are finding it hard this yearThe Masked Singer is back on our screens for a brand new series, but it seems the clues have already left fans quite annoyed. And they are calling for a huge change.
Each week, unknown celebrities put on an elaborate mask and sing to the judges. Then, over the course of the show, contestants are unmasked, and we see exactly which of our favourite celebs decided to take part.
Usually the fun part is guessing who it is. But it appears the clues on The Masked Singer this year aren’t going down to well with all of the fans. And some even think the show is purposefully making it harder.
What sort of hints does the show give?
Each week, the celebrities hide their appearances and perform a new song. But the VT beforehand is a way for the audience to get some visual and audio clues to help them work out who they may be.
Sometimes there could be an address, so viewers could work out where the celebrity is from. And other times it could be even more vague.
But as the weeks go on fans should find it a bit easier to work out who is behind the masks. And over time, even the voices will become more evident.
However, some fans aren’t happy with the format, believing this season is actually harder than previous years. And are therefore taking to Reddit to call for a change.
Viewers annoyed at The Masked Singer clues
One viewer penned: “For years I have written down the clues to play along, so I can look back and see who it could be. But after the latest reveal I’m not going to bother and instead just see if I can make out the voice from singing. With better clues I might have guessed this one right.
“An example from the episode – the three antique clocks set to 10pm. Meaning it relates to a song about time? That could have been a thousand songs. It’s good to know that I can fast forward even more of the show. I just wish the clues were a bit less cryptic.”
Another agreed: “I don’t mind obscure. But often they are now red herrings to suggest someone else entirely.”
“Yes! It’s like six degrees of separation. Literally anything can be taken as a clue this year” a third penned.
Another annoyed fan commented: “Agreed. The clue writers did a much better job in the first couple of series’. I hope it changes back.”
The clues are probably a bit harder at the start so that fans don’t guess the celebrities straight away, but hopefully over the weeks it all starts making more sense.
