Who's behind the Mole?Masked Singer fans are gearing themselves up for a big twist after spotting a strange Mole character on screen.
Viewers of the ITV singing competition are convinced something big is afoot after noticing the mystery singer in promo footage.
Several audience members have also hinted that a surprise involving Mole is on its way.
The popular series is filmed in the autumn and those in the audience are supposed to keep tight-lipped.
But it seems the questions surrounding Mole are just too much for some to bear.
The Masked Singer: Mole sparks mystery
Fans of The Masked Singer first spotted someone dressed up as a giant Mole in an advert for the 2026 series at Christmas.
Host Joel Dommett could be seen doing the conga with several of the show’s dancers, along with a giant banana and the mole.
Once the series got underway, it was quickly established that the banana just featured as a backing dancer for this year’s contestant, Monkey Business.
But the mole’s involvement in The Masked Singer still remains a mystery.
Kicking off a thread on the social forum Reddit, one Masked Singer viewer has wrote: “Why do we only literally have 1 trailer with mole in!? It’s so secret! We need more info about mole please Masked Singer UK!”
The message was responded by someone claiming to be in the know.
They replied: “It’s a secret for a reason, they will appear, but it’s meant to be a surprise! idk [I don’t know] when they appear but it be later on in the season.”
Another person has since posted: “If you’ve seen Mole live and the answer to this question doesn’t breach the NDAs, your help would be greatly appreciated.”
Rather unhelpfully, someone else replied: “I know what episode but not saying.”
Who is Mole in The Masked Singer?
There has since been more speculation that Mole’s involvement in The Masked Singer will take place in episode 5.
This is actually this Saturday’s show, as the 2026 series kicked off on Saturday January 3 with a two-episode launch across the weekend.
It has also been confirmed that this weekend’s episode will feature a double unmasking. Could one of those be Mole, perhaps?
As the anticipation rises, the guessing game has gone into full swing. The hot favourite appears to be the show’s host, Joel Dommett. ‘Joel the Mole’…
One fan wrote on Reddit: “OK, I am now fully convinced that the ‘double-unmasking’ involves Mole Domett.”
Another added: “I can’t believe mole domett! Ep5! YESSSSSSS!”
There is a major flaw with this theory, though. How can Joel do the conga with Mole at the same time?!
The good news is, we’ve not got long to wait until we find out if Mole really is a surprise character for this year’s series – and if he is in fact Joel.
The Masked Singer continues on ITV1 at 7pm on Saturday January 24, 2026, with all eight remaining characters (and possibly a Mole) returning to the stage.
