'I'd bet my life on it!' The Masked Singer fans unmask Sloth's true identity as they spot star's telltale 'energy'
Maya Jama thinks it's him, too!
The Masked Singer is back this Saturday night (January 17), and the mysterious Sloth is ready to return to the stage for the show’s spooktacular special.
Fans have been buzzing about the character ever since their first performance earlier this series, and the theories about who is under the mask are piling up.
Sloth’s Clues So Far
Sloth opened the series with his rendition of Break My Stride by Matthew Wilder, with a very energetic routine to match, indicating it was a young, sprightly person. Their clue package hinted at a jungle theme and even showed them filming a workout video, suggesting the contestant could be an influencer or fitness personality, or perhaps someone who’s recently undergone a buff body transformation.
Judge Maya Jama described Sloth as “bringing fitness, fashion and fierceness to the competition”, and their confident stage presence has sparked a flood of fan speculation.
Is Sam Thompson under the mask?
Maya pointed to This Morning star Sam Thompson as a potential Sloth. She noted his high-energy personality and recalled working with him before.
Plus, Sam won I’m A Celebrity… in 2023, which could explain the jungle references. He’s also recently started sharing his love of the gym, sharing gym selfies that flash his guns. So that could explain the workout gear.
Fans on X agreed: “Sloth was most definitely giving Sam Thompson energy.” Another said: “Instantly thought Sam Thompson for Sloth – not the only one judging by the tweets!” “I’d bet my life on Sloth being Sam Thompson. Even sounded like him in the clue package!” said another.
Joe Wicks a strong contender
Another favourite is fitness guru Joe Wicks.
Sloth made host Joel Dommett do a push-up on stage, which many viewers said screamed “Joe Wicks energy”. Fans on social media agreed, suggesting Joe’s sporty and energetic persona fits the clues perfectly.
Chris Moyles?
Jonathan Ross also floated the idea of DJ Chris Moyles, pointing to an alarm clock seen in Sloth’s VT as a nod to someone working mornings on TV or radio.
Chris appeared on I’m A Celebrity… in 2022 and got fit during his time on the show, matching the athletic vibe of Sloth.
“The clue’s are all there,” one viewer insisted. “It’s definitely Chris Moyles!”
