Jimmy Bullard has been accused of making a “major error” during his epic row with Adam Thomas during the live I’m A Celebrity South Africa final.

The former footballer let rip in extraordinary scenes on Friday night following his bust-up with Adam on the show.

Jimmy repeatedly accused Adam of being “abusive, aggressive and intimidating” towards him in South Africa.

He claimed scenes were edited in Adam’s favour after they fell out over a trial.

As the live broadcast descended into chaos, hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly stepped in and argued back with Jimmy.

Ant insisted: “I was there and I don’t think that was intimidating. No. I was there.”

TV presenter Matt Richardson, who has hosted shows including The Xtra Factor and Virgin Radio’s drive-time, has now given his frank view.

And, having met Jimmy and presented live TV programmes himself,  he thinks he made one very big mistake.

I’m A Celebrity: Jimmy Bullard’s ‘big mistake’ during Adam Thomas row

Matt has taken to Instagram in the aftermath of the Jimmy, Adam – and of course, David Haye – on-air row.

He met the former footballer in 2014. He appeared on I’m A Celebrity spin-off show, Extra Camp when Jimmy was eliminated from the jungle.

Matt said: “If you’re Ant and Dec in this moment… they got quite annoyed. I was surprised to see it. But Jimmy made the error of blaming the show while on the show.

“That was the mistake he made. He obviously said the edit didn’t show everything, other people agreed with him.

“I have a friend who works on the production of I’m A Celeb and he said Jimmy is in the right. He said Jimmy is correct but handled it badly in the final. He brought it up wrong and got upset about it.”

Talking about Ant and Dec biting back, Matt continued: “Ant and Dec weren’t ultimately defending Adam, they were defending the show.

“Jimmy had basically said, ‘It was edited, it was much worse than what it was and I stand by what I said. You edited it to protect Adam’. That is accusing the show of something and they’re on the show. They have to then take the side of the edit.

“Even if the show had done that, and I’ve got a friend who said Jimmy was the in the right, they’re never going to back Jimmy publicly when he’s accusing the show of editing it to protect Adam. That is a major thing.”

‘I really like him’

Matt said he “can’t imagine what was going on in Ant and Dec’s ear” as the drama quickly unfolded in the London studio.

But speaking about Jimmy in particular, he doesn’t have a bad word to say.

“He’s really good fun and he’s very no bull[bleep]. He is a laugh but he won’t take any nonsense. Having met him, if he was in the wrong, he would have put his hands up,” Matt said.

“I really like him. He is obviously very quick to anger. Sinitta supported him, which I think was interesting.”

Matt described Jimmy’s behaviour on Friday as “passionate”.

He added: “Adam stayed nice and calm and that benefited him, which ultimately meant he won the night.”
