Netflix announces cast of Squid Game: The VIP Challenge

Back in 2023, Netflix launched a reality spin-off of the hit Korean drama, Squid Game.

The game show saw real-life contestants compete in Squid Game-inspired challenges to win a grand prize of $4.56 million.

After two seasons of the civilian edition, Netflix has announced a celebrity version – and the stars taking part have been revealed. And one of them will be a very familiar face to UK viewers.

It was announced last night (Tuesday, March 3), in a new promo video, that Spice Girls icon Mel B will be taking part in the show.

In the video, the celebs, dressed as the VIPs from the drama, can be seen removing their masks to the camera.

“The VIP’s have entered the game,” a caption reads on screen.

Netflix slammed

However, fans are not happy with the the fact that there’s now a celebrity version of the show.

“Way to miss the point of the [bleeping] show. No one wants this slop,” one viewer fumed.

“NO ONE asked for this omg. Yall literally ruin everything,” another said.

We have lost the plot and the meaning of the whole show Netflix [crying emoji] Shame on you,” a third wrote.

“Boring. Stop making a reality trash TV out of everything. Won’t be watching. Ridiculous,” another tweeted.

However, there was some positivity. “That cast lineup is wild. Dylan Efron and Viper returning is going to make this even more intense,” one fan tweeted.

“Excited to see how the alliances and drama play out this time,” another said.

When does Squid Games: VIP Challenge start?

No date has yet to be confirmed for the launch of the new series.

However, it’s expected to drop soon on Netflix.
