New Casualty trailer teases pregnancy bombshell and surprise Only Fools and Horses legend guest appearance as series returns
Cassandra star turns up in the emergency department!Casualty has released a first trailer for its new 12-part series which teases a major character’s pregnancy and reveals a first look at a handsome new medic joining the BBC hit.
Plus there’s a blink and you’ll miss it scene featuring Only Fools and Horses legend Gwyneth Strong, who famously played Rodney Trotter’s wife Cassandra.
The explosive Casualty trailer – linked at the bottom of this article – reveals that Faith Dean (Kirsty Mitchell), who’s newly married to Iain (Michael Stevenson), is pregnant! In a dramatic scene, Siobhan McKenzie (Melanie Hill) appears to tell Faith she is pregnant and Faith looks stunned. Fans will now be desperate to see what unfolds.

Faith and Iain have already had a rocky marriage despite being wed for less than a year. Paramedic Iain was fuming when Faith ignored his wishes and reported Jacob (Charles Venn) because she thought he was stealing morphine. Jacob was later proved to be innocent.
The makers tease that the new 12-part series, titled Learning Curve, will see them deal with a new challenge. And that appears to be the prospect of becoming parents.
There’s also romantic hope in the trauma department. Casualty teases that viewers can expect things to “heat up” between Cam (Barney Walsh) and Indie (Naomi Wakszlak).
Casualty trailer reveals new characters including Only Fools star
There’s a very short scene involving Only Fools and Horses star Gwyneth Strong and Flynn (Olly Rix). She has appeared in the show before many years ago but this is most likely a new character.
Meanwhile, Aron Julius, who’s enjoyed roles in Death in Paradise, joins as “disarming charmer” Matty Linlaker, who’s sure to enjoy romantic escapades when the series returns on Saturday, January 10.
Aron Julius says: “I am absolutely buzzing to be joining Casualty. It’s a dream job – fast, fun and full of heart – and I can’t wait for audiences to meet him. Saturday nights just got a little more chaotic.”
The Casualty trailer also offers a first glimpse at Jasmine Bayes, whose credits include Doctor Who and Hijack, who arrives as the “unsure but capable Kim”.
Jasmine teases that viewers will see Kim heading into “troubled waters”.
Flynn and Dylan clash

The Casualty trailer also features dramatic scenes between Flynn (Olly Rix) and Dylan Keogh (William Beck). Initially Flynn politely asks Dylan to mentor one of the new starters. However, later in the trailer Flynn resorts to shouting at Dylan. “Just suck it up and be his mentor for God’s sake!,” screams Flynn.
Flynn looks like a broken man in the clip. The makers tease that the emergency department is overwhelmed and looking like it might collapse. With Flynn clearly have anger issues it appears it will fall to Siobhan to keep the team together.
“We keep calm and carry on,” smiles Siobhan in the Casualty trailer. But behind the smile you can see she’s worried about everyone. But even Siobhan is at one point seen losing her cool. Plus, another medic throws their colleague against a wall!
